Tennessee @ Science Hill

They clearly put the better athletes on defense. The Adams kid and Gillespie (SP for the spelling police) are two pretty good corners. They have a nice looking safety back there too. The Payne kid on the left side is a player. Some of those guys go both ways but the weakness of this team is run blocking. The mitchell kid almost always either made somebody miss or broke a tackle at the line of scrimmage to earn his yards. The proof is in there red zone production. Once the field gets short they have a hard time scoring because they can't punch it in. They got past the 20 2 or 3 times in the second half and only scored on the 4th and 5 on the last play.

Science Hill has been in the Red Zone 13 times this year and scored on 9 with 8 TD's. Opponents have been in the Red Zone 11 times and scored 6 times with 5 TD's and they have created 2 turnovers. SHHS has given up 21 first quarter points and only 16 in the final 3 quarters. MO WEST did not reach the Red Zone in the second half. SHHS is averaging 4.5 yds per carry. Snyder I believe leads the Big 8 in passing according to Doug Fritz. His QB rating is 115.97.

Some more: SHHS is +7 in the turnover department. After the 9 turnovers they've gotten, they have scored 6 TD's and two of the INT's were in the opponents end zone. They don't beat themselves. Also, don't forget Campbell. I have seen him flip the field twice during big time situations.

It will be a good game...

:D It ain't gonna be that close. THS will win by 3 touchdowns. They will run over SHILL. I think the score will be 35 to 14 and THS will show SHILL how real tough football is supposed to be played on their new field. The only reason I will be wrong will be the unknown like fumbles. I'm sure SC has a good game plan and all because he studies film real good and so does his other coaches. THS will be tougher than expected.

I say this once a Season and only once a season..... "GO VIKINGS"

Tennessee High has played what has to be the easiest schedule so far in the State (5A/6A) so they should be as fresh as opening game for this one. Their Defense has given up nothing, because that is what they have played.

Bristol 17

Spurriorville 14

I've seen a lot of stats on players in this thread...everybody knows the big change at SHHS is in the coaching staff. These are two excellent coaches going head to head....Does anybody have the history on Stubbs vs Carter over the last 13 years?

I think its Carter 4-3 or maybe 4-4 against Stubbs. Comp would know for sure. Which either way doesn't give much indication of coaching prowess. Should be a knock-down drag-out game.

Your right but coaching prowess wasn't the question...If the two teams over the last several years have been pretty equal as far as athletes...but Stubbs was superior to previous SHHS coaches, then it stands to reason that now that SH has (in Carter) a coach equal to Stubbs then that was the edge needed for SH to win this one.

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
