This should be the Owls' game but it has been a long time since they have won. 5 staright losses to York or is it 6? Last year's playoff win by York was the best ever...way better than a blowout! With the score Smith 14-York 7, York scored with less than a minute to go with an 83 yard (or so) TD...then went for 2 and the win, and then held Smith Co. in check to win. But we don't have Reynolds and Williams this year either. This year the Owls barely beat LA, and York should have won their LA game...but you don't win fumbling the ball. York had over 100 more yards than LA in that game. LA made the most of their scoring chance and deserved the win. #8, the punter, was great for LA. He gave them field advantage all night. Still you can't really compare scores. York has everything to win or lose in this game so hopefully they'll be up for it. Smith Co. only is playing for position in the playoffs and sole possession of the district title. If Smith Co. plays up top their potential, they could win by whatever they want. If York is fired up and DOESN'T fumble, they could pull an upset.

The positioning in the playoffs is one reason, winning the district is obviously another, but if I was guessing, that Smith County programs wants to win this game for more reasons than that.

Would it effect the district standings if SC was to not show up and lose this game? And is this a must win for York?

York would have 1 loss (LA), LA 1 loss (SC) and SC 1 loss (York). Three way tie - head to head out since 3 way tie - overall record next - SC #1 because of the most wins. Worry would be seating in quad. Antwan can tell us about that. :thumb:

A loss could drop sc from a 2 to a 3 seed. That is assuming Howard stays in our quad...which right now...they won't be. CCS' win last week should bump them to quad 2.

The new ratings come out tomorrow. Hard to say with certainty what they will be. SC can do no worse than a 3 seed...I think. Assuming Goodpasture wins Friday...sc can do no better than a 2 seed.

    • 20 but had 5-6 not dressed every game. It went down towards the end due to injuries and obviously only 15 got to dress for the state tournament. Then, they only lost 2 from this year and gain 8 from the middle school for next year
    • As somebody mentioned before, this is going to result in a massive lawsuit, can you imagine professional "educators" actually having the conversation about getting "the bad kids" out of the high school?  And the head coach asking directly to change grades, gets turned down, comes back again and gets it approved?  This is unbelievable.  In addition to the lawsuit, the state Department of Education is going to come down extremely hard on this.  WYSH is on the war path.  There could be dozens more lose their jobs by the time this is over.  And yeah the real shame is the kids being affected that literally had nothing to do with this and actually worked hard to earn their grades.
    • I've heard Powell from someone who talked to him. I saw the kid two days ago and I should of pulled over and talked with him and wished him well where ever he goes. It will be a ale of a loss for us because I don't believe we have anyone in the stable good as him from what I seen in the spring.
    • I would have to think that the firing of the 2 teachers is just the beginning of future moves.  If not, it is woefully short.  If the AC school board thinks that the damage is just limited to Clinton, they are sadly mistaken.  Any outsider would view the whole school system as suspect, and rightly so.
    • Yeah. AC brass walked in to the building at Clinton and suggested that the principal start changing grades.  Honesty, the notion that anybody at AC was involved is just idiocy.  The ones who are hurt most are the kids who weren't involved in the cheating, but still are being penalized by college admission decisions and scholarship consideration simply because they went to a school that was involved in such a scandal.
