Congrats to Andrew Jelks on his strong showing at the U.S. Army National Football Combine for underclassmen. He was listed as one of the top performers for the black team according to Rivals writer Barry Every. Here is what was written:

Assets: Has excellent height, long arms and is light on his feet with a frame that can hold at least 40 more pounds.

Areas for improvement: Lacked the strength to battle some of the huge defensive tackles and bigger defensive ends he went against because he is a bit thin in the upper body at this time.

What was most impressive at combine: He did one of the best jobs of getting full extension with his arms while pass blocking. Jelks was also very nimble on his feet.

Conclusion: Has no offers at this time but he has the desired height and long arms that college coaches are looking for in a left offensive tackle.

This is very high praise for this event as the talent is top notch. His profile also shows medium interest from Tenn, Bama, Notre Dame, & Georgia. Look for his stock to rise and big colleges to come after him this fall.

Found some great highlights of Jelks from this past season.

    • Now that wouldn’t surprise me a bit. That has been going on heavily since the days of Larry Kerr @ AC. One of the major reasons CC has never really had much at all, barring about 2 seasons in football. AC milks it dry.
    • Interesting how quite it is. Rumors are going around that Anderson County is being looked at by TSSAA for recruiting violations with the Campbell County transfers.
    • I heard from a member of the teaching staff that there has been a dispute over use of the game field between football, and girls lacrosse team. Girls had a game and wanted to warm up and football coaches did want to leave. The football coaches came down hard with some bad vulgar language and the girls lacrosse backed down. What a classy act BHS athletics has become.
    • The lawsuit requests a jury trial. Sable Winfree has extremely competent legal representation. FYI - her lawyer represented the Warren County school system for years, and I believe he knows what constitutes a reasonable lawsuit.
