So, Snoball, how long you think this thread will get before ?somebody? shuts it down? Will we rival the PC WC thread or the King of Smack thread?

you see smeagle the big thing here is that it is the "same brand." and it's not the success that signal mountain has had in the last few months that gets people in such a fever about them, it's the attitude of fans like you that think everything signal does is "a different brand" than whatever happens anywhere else. when it was the mascot incident, you personally expected an investigation by the tssaa and the coach who made an emotional comment was trying to down play things and is classless and it's because everybody is out to get you. then when the roles are reversed and your coach and administration tries to down play things and play the "no comment" card, it's no ones business and you all will decide what's right and what's wrong and the tssaa doesn't need to try and pass their judgement on you because when it involves your program it's a "different brand" that doesn't have to tow the line every one else does. the great injustice to me is how you and several other signal posters on here represent this "other brand" mentality on here so consistantly that it turns so many off to your program. no one has to make a fake user name to incite that response, you do enough of that yourself.

Bush league? I will tell you what is bush league and that's the reporter and possibly the reaction of the TSSAA. Suspending a parent wasn't the only punishment. The team had to cancel their remaining 7 on 7's. These were greatly needed with a new QB and other skilled position players along with a whole new defense. To me this was far more severe than what Soddy did. Let's see, what was it they did? Oh yeah, they suspended their team from a day of practice and instead had the players move furniture in the air conditioned school. Oh, and it wasn't even a real practice in pads it was a summer workout and they still participated in other 7 on 7's. This is a joke and a bigger joke the TSSAA made it sound like they actually took sever action.

 

Now the coach did get suspended but you pinhead haters apparently didn't do well in reading comprehension. Principle Maynard said "Where things went awry weren't in how Coach Orr handled it once it happened, but the overall atmosphere of the day that led to the fight." Here is a quote from Dr. McCullough "John [Maynard] had a different situation that he had to deal with. Ours was allowing the fans to get too close to the field, and we've dealt with that." What this is saying has already been talked about on here. Soddy had multiple incidents that day not just this one with Signal. In another incident that day one of their coaches and a Cleveland coach had to be restrained. Bottom line is Signal didn't have any other incidents during the day and although this one was very unfortunate there wasn't a pattern of issues throughout the event. Plus the fact we haven't ever had a player kicked out of a game for fighting and SD can't say the same thing.

 

It's sad that everyone wants to blame SM when in fact Soddy initiated the fight. Crap there is even a video of it, with a kid talking about how one of their players was hitting one of ours prior to the fight. Now the parent that was involved was dealt with the only way the school can deal with them. If someone else wants to take action I would say they have that option.

 

This isn't spin, its facts that the reporter (whose son plays for our biggest rival South Pitt) has chosen to ignore. Why, my guess is it sells papers and makes him a hero in his hometown of South Pitt.

 

As for the TSSAA I'm not sure if they chose to ignore the fact that we didn't participate in anymore 7 on 7's as punishment or if they were not supplied with the information. But if they want a dog in the fight they need to sanction these events if they don't they don't need to question things. After all did anyone see the letter that was sent to Trousdale County after one of their adult fans assaulted our mascot at one of their sanctioned playoff games? Oh, and the guy was convicted of assault because the parents of the mascot pursued it as he actually received a concussion. Trousdales only action was to suspend the person for a year.

 

Also did you see the reporter publish anything about what the TSSAA did on the South Pitt/Central fight last year that involved parents. Nope not a word. Bottom line is hating SM and writing negative things sells the papers.

Truthfully spoken !! Gotta take responsiblity to the highest level . to win or lose with character by all = coaches adminstration players and fans .I hope SM does well

I imagine their current 70 young ones will look like champions in about 4 months!!!!

 

 

Got to through a proven 4A performer in Greenville. SM might find playing the likes of Polk County, Bledsoe and Blackman to be very good, quality opponents. Sooner or later going to see Red Bank ( that will be fun), maybe even an improving team in Harrison. But the bottom line is Greenville will very tested, very talented and well coached. Folks forget that Greenville played with the big boys ( Maryville, DB and Science Hill) for years and were winners most of the time. We will see. It is a long season.

 

In sports, you simply aren't considered a real champion until you have defended your title successfully. Winning it once can be a fluke; winning it twice proves you are the best.
