HarleyRider321
I watched Whitwell play Copper Basin and although there were many mistakes, they showed some signs of improvement. However, once CB got ahead by a couple of touchdowns, the morale quickly deteriorated for Whitwell. I think Whitwell has the best chance to beat the Warriors this year that they've had in many years. With Justin Havis at QB they have some versatility and can move the ball. The Warriors have struggled so far this season but no doubt they will be up for this one against a county rival and after suffering back to back losses. Whitwell needs early momentum in order to keep confidence high IMO. Tigers 28 Warriors

Al Capone
And your point is? Jasper does too. I don't care if SP did thump Grundy, fact is, Marion has played two pretty good football teams so far. Shoulda been more competitive in each; they will be against Whitwell. I believe they'll beat Whitwell; I won't be too surprised if they don't. This team just don't look like they know how to play defense. They better gel pretty quick before their season gets entirely out of hand. To easy for parents to blame coaching. Coaching ain't Marion's problem. MCH, don't quit posting. This team could use some of the enthusiasm and desire you brought a few years back. That's what's lacking... Let me ask you a question Al Capone? I work with some MC alumni and one guy was telling me that a couple player's left practice the other day early. Don't know if they quit or what but if it did happen, and I haven't heard anything else in the last few day's,but I's say the team will be better off without them bc they were not in it at the start and maybe a few more need to pack there bags and go with them. Seem's like alot of the young kid's want to play ball and have the heart to play but haven't been given the chance like some of the other older classmen. Your absolutely right about the coaching. He can't run or make a tackle,it's up to the player's and alot of whiney parent's might need to find another team to watch or quit coming bc that's the last thing the team need's right now in this hard time there going through. Sportman I can't speak to players leaving practice, etc. I have heard some pretty reliable rumors about uncommitted players, lack of Senior numbers, things like that. I know of one that quit, possibly family problems as an excuse, who should get his behind back out there. Bright future in atheletics for him if he sticks. Folks around Marion program are putting unrealistic expectations on these coaches, head coach in particular. Just not much enthusiam being shown for the program right now, based on what I see Friday nights. Look at this thread; have to hunt it up. Not too many seasons ago Marion threads stayed near the top. Now its like fans just want it to go away. Personally, I would like to see all malcontented players do their team a favor and bale; take their parents with them. If these younger kids are committed, let the few remaining Seniors lead them. The season is still young; wouldn't that long ago a 0-2 Marion team came close to turning all East Tennessee 2A football on its ear. Would have if that Semi-Pro team hadn't got in their way. Those Warriors weren't much more, if any, talented than these Warriors are. Heart, desire and teamwork, they were light years ahead. That has to come from players. Coaches can only do so much. Marion supporters will be making a huge mistake even comtemplating a coaching change.

I may not be an alumni of MC but I do usually root for them since they are in our county. I'm sure I'm not in the norm on that but that's just the way I am. I really hate to see a rich tradition program fall so far. I know you can't win every game but at least let the other team know they've been in a physical game. If player's can't give it there all,I'm with you, they should hit the road, and fast, also with there parent's.

I'd just like to see it the was when MC was a proud group. When they were competitive it made our rilvary more fun. The basics, I'm sure are still there, but it's going to take a very strong group, of dedicated fans, coaches and others pulling together to get it done. The rilvary as we know it won't last if they don't do it soon. Get off your rear ends MC and do what we know you can do. Until then all I can say is GO PIRATES!! These annual blowouts ain't gonna stop till something finally gets through to these MC players today. There was a time when records really could be ignored when these programs met. Yeah, for the past.....too many years......SP has been more talented overall...But not THAT more talented. It's all got to do with the players heart and desire. Coaching has been there for the past four years at least. Friday should be a turn around night for the MC team. They'll beat whitwell.....if they really want to. TheAmbassador
I hope Marion County-Jasper gets it turned around where the rivalry is fun again, but I have heard ALOT of rumblings in Jasper about the attitude that starts at the top and trickles down to the team. It's no secret that alot of players simply do not want to play with the current setup. I believe a change might take place sooner rather than later. Goodluck against Whitwell though.
