AndrewJackson
Five gun shots rang out at the Cordova High School Homecoming Game against Jackson North Side! What is wrong with people in Memphis? Cordova is just another example of what happens to a public high school once the City of Memphis and Memphis City Schools take over! That school use to be something special, leave it to Memphis to mess up a good thing! No one was hit, but two cars were not as lucky! After the shooting, the idiot drove around the parking lot doing donuts and burn outs, but the police and security were unable to apprehend the shooter. Now I understand why everyone is moving or trying to move out of Cordova.

Im sure there are *some* good people there but there is a reason its one of the highest crime cities in the United States.
wingman10
And people wonder why nobody wants to go to or play Memphis schools in high school sporting events. Hope it gets better, but it does not appear that it will.
WEAKLINK
Consider the source. If they moved U.T. out of there the whole place would resemble Somalia.

Pantherbert
To be completely fair, it's news for that to happen in Cordova as it's not typically the kind of area you would expect that sort of thing to happen. Although I agree 1,000,000,000% with the OP's overall opinion of Memphis City Schools which is why when the "merger" goes through you'll see municipal school districts in Bartlett, Arlington, Germantown, Millington, Collierville, and Lakeland. THEBulldog81
Last season during the playoffs Smyrna High School played at Whitehaven in the semi-finals. The police had the street behind the vistors side of the field shut down and only allowed one car to drive down the street at a time. When the game was over there were security guards creating a walk path to our buses, we were told to get on the buses right away and leave. Our boosters and parents typically have food and drinks for the players post game, they were told to wait and stop on the interstate to feed the players. The players had to stop at a rest area to change out of their uniforms. It was very intimidating to have to watch a game in these conditions. Nothing happened during the game like gunshots, but it sure made you wonder what would happen.
