Sequatchie Co. vs. Signal Mnt. (Oct.28)

Just so we're square with all the Sequatchie people. So far the people talking about putting 100 on the board haven't been from SM. I think most people will tell you we enjoy playing you guys every year. I think your stadium is the best we will get to play at this year and I'm looking forward to coming down.

As for all this other stuff. Don't know who cried to the TSSAA and don't really care. But I do care that they drug their feet and I think the reason is obvious. I also have a problem that your principle who is on the Board of Control admitted he knew about this on Sep 22nd. IMO he should have talked to our AD at the meeting and not doing so leaves a bad taste in the eagles mouths.

Before anyone tries to defend him by saying he didn't know, here it is in his own words. "There are rumors out there that Sequatchie County turned them in. We did not," Layne said. "The first I heard about it was a comment from [TSSAA executive director] Bernard Childress at the administrators' meeting on Sept. 22." He clearly knew and Childress was clearly talking about it with others and not our AD.

Whats also clear is the game won't be won or lost on this thread and there will plenty of non-SM people on here running their mouths about what SM is going to do. Plus I think there will be plenty of SM people on here that are not happy with your principle for not speaking up.

I would think his position on the BOC would discourage him from discussing the issue with SM administration. I would also assume that if he posessed information concerning the eligibility of a student in his athletic district, he would be obligated to report it to the executive director. According to the by-laws, the BOC shall "Elect an Executive Director and delegate the authority to interpret and to enforce the Constitution"and Bylaws of the TSSAA to the Executive Director". I'm sure the executive director assumes some confidentiality when discussing issues with the BOC members.

I’m sorry, but the whole running up the score thing bothers me. Just beat them and go on with life. Greeneville could have put up 100 on a few teams last year. I’m sure Alcoa and Maryville could have done it many times over the years. What’s the point? Even with the extra motivation that SM has, running up the score on a team will only come back to haunt them eventually.

To quote Coach Price "It makes things better".

SM has a football coaching staff that has it all consisting from "breaking laws leading to arrests" to "breaking rules leading to losing wins". That's exactly the kind of place and the kind of coaches that I would want to send my child to school to play football and learn life's greatest lessons :roflol:

The worst part about it is that people actually take joy into the "bad reputation" status that SM has acquired in a very brief period of time. Why is that?

I read in the Times this morning that Dalton High School has a player being investigated by the GHSA concerning his residence. The player was held out of last Friday's game with Ringgold after the school learned of his investigation. Southeast Whitfield brought this up after pictures on a social media website, probably Facebook, showed him at his so-called previous residence.

I'm sure all the Signal Mtn fans will spend their week off going down to Dalton to defend this player, who is being singled out by the man. Because, as you know, they're all about the children.

Perhaps they will get the young man a hardship waiver to SM and save his academic career.

No SP should just let him move in with a grandmother that is not the legal guardian then he can play without sitting out any, even though he has a previous record in GA. Isn't that how you make it work?

You are so full of crap, Hamilton county should be charging you a sewer bill. 1st off, the kid you are talking about was raised in S.P. However, unlike your administration, our folks seem to be able to fill out paper work correctly with the right answers.

    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
    • It may be hard to believe but there’s more people than me that think you guys are a bunch of losers.    I’m sure the coaching staff, yourself included, cursed at a bunch of high school students. Nobody could name more than 3 coaches on staff due to the constant turnover.
    • That's complete BS.  Nobody at ACHS has access to CHS student records unless a transfer is made from CHS to ACHS.
