My favorite time of year is here. Playoff time. Tonight around the state 3A teams were involved in some great games. This lead to some changes in the bracket. This week the last two teams in are Gatlinburg-Pittman and Loudon. The last two teams out are Tyner and Hickman Co. Those may change after next week. Here are the brackets. Remember if you have any questions let me know. I did this after having worked all day, traveling two hours to watch a game, driving two hours back and spending an hour breaking things down.

Quad 1

1 Sullivan North (9-0)

8 Gatlinburg Pittman (4-5)

4 Elizabethton (6-3)

5 Chuckey-Doak (6-3)

3 Pigeon Forge (6-3)

6 South Greene (5-4)

2 West Greene (7-3)

7 Happy Valley (5-4)

Quad 2

1 CAK (7-2)

8 Loudon (4-5)

4 Alcoa (6-3)

5 Sweetwater (5-4)

3 Polk Co. (6-3)

6 Kingston (6-3)

2 Austin East (6-3)

7 Meigs Co. (5-4)

Quad 3

1 Smith Co. (9-0)

8 Pearl Cohn (5-4)

4 CPA (8-1)

5 Sequatchie Co. (7-2)

3 Goodpasture (6-3)

6 Cheatham Co. (5-4)

2 Bledsoe Co. (8-1)

7 Grundy Co. (5-4)

Quad 4

1 Milan (8-1)

8 Westview (5-4)

4 Manassas (6-3)

5 Harpeth (7-2)

3 Camden (7-2)

6 Lewis Co. (6-3)

2 Fairview (8-1)

7 South Gibson (6-3)

Do you think there is anyway that Sullivan North will surprise everyone and make it to the state finals?

I believe that any team entering the playoffs has a shot at winning a state championship..just depends on who wants it more and who comes in hot and who's cold..best of luck to all teams going in and hopefully it'll make for some good match ups..ill be going wherever Grundy Co goes..we will surely be facing giants but as did David defeat a giant so can we..

Good luck with that if your heading our way.

Whether its Smith Co Alcoa bledsoe or any other team out there..Grundy will show up to play and they will play their hearts out..don't let ur Smith boys get to over eager an thinkin bout round 2 cause Grundy has upset before and can upset again..plus we are one of the hardest hittin teams in the state..lets play ball!!

They have a very good team this year. They will have to beat Austin-East and Elizabethton again to get out of the quad. Elizabethton is rolling now and will not take North lightly. They will be ready and unless the players do something stupid again maybe they will have their whole team this time. West Greene and Pigeon Forge should not be taken to lightly.

Grundy will be ready..yeah sometimes we don't play to our potential but we will show up and be ready to play..wish we could get a home playoff game but I dunno the last time that actually happened..but our head coach who has been coaching our boys for the past 3 years have led them to the playoffs everytime..but this year we just might surprise some folks..just happy we have made it 3 years in a row..we may not be Alcoa or Smith Co and good pasture but we are mountain boys and we ain't ready for the season to be over with yet

Moving on from gcjackets fantasy world,,, let's discuss the realistic playoffs.

For the experts,, is it possible that both Bledsoe and Sequatchie Co move east into quad 2?

Specifically if AE ends up in quad 1,, (possible if Pigeon Forge beats Gat-Pit)

And Tyner and Loudon both miss the playoffs, which seems likely,, that would leave quad 2 looking like this.

(If ALCOA wins Dist 4)

Bledsoe County

Alcoa

Polk County

CAK

Sequatchie County

Sweetwater

Kingston

Meigs County

(If CAK wins dist 4)

Bledsoe County

CAK

Polk County

Sequatchie County

Alcoa

Sweetwater

Kingston

Meigs County

Does that look right?

Though grundys chances are slim to going deep into the playoffs anything is possible..you can't say that u were never shocked to see teams go to the state championship or make a deep run into the playoffs..anything could happen and when I say this that if Grundy could play bledsoe or sequatchie again it would be a whole new ball game..sequatchie is always a good tough hard fought game..bledsoe is overated in my opinion yea they beat us horribly but we came out flat footed and played the whole game flat..coaches didn't coach well and the players didn't play well..the same could go for cak and Alcoa or any other team out there..we were the only team in our district that held signal mountain on their running game..yea we have a lousy pass defense and if it wasn't for that the game would have been a lot closer..so dog me down for having high hopes for my local high school team..in a sense all of you have hopes that your teams make it to state..sequatchie has just a big of a chance as Alcoa. It all depends on who wants it more then. the other..come playoff time we will see who wants it more then the other..now in that sense I don't agree with the predictions that u have in your playoff brackets your assuming that Grundy loses to Notre dame and that would put them at 5-5 and an 8th place seed..well if Grundy wins that would put them at 6-4..if Pearl cohn looses wouldn't that put us at a 6th seeded team and Pearl cohn an 8th seeded team?

    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
    • Heard Seq has gotten a lot stronger this off season. Can’t wait to see how the boys do this year
