thank you for the compliment. those giles kids played hard, fought hard and went down swinging. that's the way every team should go out IMO. The VOLS could take a lesson from some of these HS teams...

I'd say panthers have 80% chance ... Nothing much to worry about... All greeneville does is try to run off tackle ..from many different formations ...they not going to fool anyone over here with that ...they can and will be beat..i like this title game to hillsboro vs maryville a few years back... Defense stole the show!! And # 20 just needs a gap and miss and he is off... This should be a great game!!!

This goes out to BVD, Greart YouTube video this week in regards to the Greene & Giles game.. Maplewood has a decent kicker.

 

Maplewood is a lot like West Greene in sizes but better defense. Their defense is comparable to Austin East with a little more depth and the zeal of Giles county. This will no doubt be a heated game, but the one who stays calm will come out on top. Experience will be the calme one that sneaks in and at the end for a victory. GO GREENE

The VOLS could take a lesson from some of these HS teams...as for MHS, there's a pic on coacht here from the covington game that shows a panther player poking a covington players eyes. first off, i understand "stuff happens in the pile". secondly, i'm not saying the MHS kid was purposely doing it, that's just the way it appears in the pic. thirdly, and this is the point i want to stress, if that WAS intentional, I hope was a result of an ongoing battle throught that game between those two particular players. All accounts of last years GHS v MHS game say that it was a cleanly played game and there was no cheap stuff. Greeneville has had to deal with that sort of crap for a little over a year now apparently in an attempt to take them out of their game. So far it hasnt worked, but to be honest, it's alot easier to keep your cool, when the cheap shots come, if you're leading by 5 touchdowns. It is my hope that this sort of thing will be nipped in the eyeball....hehehe...before it ever gets started. it's one thing to give an opponent a little love tap in the gut under the pile, but to try to gauge another player in the eye to me is just down right pathetic....Having said all that, again, it is my hope that what i saw in the picture was just an incidental slip of the hand, rather than a "handy" way to get an advantage....play tough, play hard, play to win and never quit, but do it the right way...pretty simple i would say.

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!

      I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
