Who will be teams to beat in 2012 Season. Will AC & Catholic return as contenders. What Does Powell got coming back. Does West or Lenoir city Return enough to make deep runs again. Thoughts anyone.

Henry Co. loses several Seniors but do have some starters coming back. There are several talented underclassmen chomping at the bit to play.

Ac will be made up of all jr and sr. All of which played 11 games this year. I dont know if that makes us a contender but we will be improved for sure.

Lenoir City Returns 9 starters on O and 8 on D.....should be a good year for the Panthers if they keep working hard and play as a team

Henry County loses A LOT. Our entire offensive line (including our 6'7 275 pound left tackle who's going to Vandy), our QB, our starting RB, our go-to WR, our FB, all 3 of our defensive linemen, 3 out of 4 linebackers, a safety, and a corner. We have some good underclassmen returning, many of whom are "chomping at the bit" to get on the field as previously stated, and our incoming sophomore class is absolutely LOADED, and I will admit I don't think we are a one year wonder...we will compete for more championships, but I'd be lying if I said I don't expect us to take a significant step back next season. We'll be young, and there will probably be some growing pains. With that said, we will still field a good football team next year. Just probably not a championship caliber one. I think that's gonna be another year away.

 

As for who I expect to pick up the slack, Beech returns an absolutely loaded backfield next season from a team that just finished 8-5. They will make some noise. Lenoir City brings back 17 starters from a team that also went to the quarterfinals. It's gonna be an interesting year in 5A, because I'm not sure there will be a clear cut favorite. We are the defending champs, but it's extremely difficult to replace what we graduate in just one year. Powell's losing one of the best running backs in the state, so that's gonna be a tough deal. Like I said, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Agreed on Beech. Ridgeway also loses a ton of great players. Not sure about Gallatin. Seems like Hendersonville loses quite a bit as well. What about two darkhorses: Dyer County and Station Camp? Did they lose much?

I agree with your assessment for next year. We are losing a lot of our "heavy hitters" this year, but will still be very competitive next year.

 

Don't forget our incoming freshmen who are now 8th graders. A lot of speed and size with that group as well. I could see 2013 and 2014 as potential back-to-back trips (if not flat-out winning) to state again!

Francis is the only one out of who you mentioned that returns.
