The ballot is in my hand and is due by Monday, Feb 6th. Many media members will read your comments and positive comments are much more effective than negative ones. Tell us who TO vote for. Thanks

"The Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards will be presented to the top girls and boys in five classifications of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association at the state basketball championships in March.

This group is to include three finalists for Miss Basketball and three for Mr. Basketball in each classification. The winners of the coveted award are to receive the distinguished Mr. and Miss Basketball trophy with the other finalists being presented plaques.

The awards will be presented for each classification prior to the championship game awards presentation for each class, respectively. The presentation of the Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards for Division II will be given on Saturday, March 3 at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville.

The presentation of the Miss Basketball Awards for Division I, Classes A, AA, and AAA will be given during each championship awards ceremony for each class on Saturday, March 10 at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.

The presentation of the Mr. Basketball Awards for Division I, Classes A, AA, and AAA will be given during each championship awards ceremony for each class on Saturday, March 17 at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

Any player at any of our member schools is eligible to receive votes, and I would encourage you to take a moment and give careful consideration to any player with whom you are familiar and who you think deserving of the Mr. or Miss Basketball Award.

These votes are a nominating process only. A selection committee that will include representatives from each area of the state will meet to vote on the finalists and winner of the Mr. and Miss Basketball Award for each classification. You may submit the names of up to three players in each classification for the awards."

Garrett Mullinicks from McEwen is having an outstanding season so I hope he at least gets a look. He is the leader of a currently 20-0 team and averaging about 20 points a game. He grabs about 7 rebounds a game and is averaging 6 assists as well. He is also a young man that is looked up to in our community for his outstanding morals and character in general. If you ever get a chance to see McEwen play, I suggest you do so that you can see his play and leadership he exemplifies on the court. He is just as worthy of being in this discussion as anyone.

Tay Tay Newby should be the next Mr. Basketball. His single A school does not indicate this kid is playing on a lower level. Tay Tay played with the best in the country the past 4 years on the circuit as did a lot of players from Memphis and the state of TN. Tay Tay just shined a little brighter than most on the circuit.

As for you GURU.... how long have you been watching basketball. from your comment you sound like an idiot.

Your Quote--"Im honestly not trying to be smart. But was there supposed to be anything impressive that stood out in this video?"

I would suggest you go see Tay Tay play or talk to people that have. This will be the only reply I will make to an uninformed, information lacking, and Basketball IQ Challenged poster.

I would love to see him play, hopefully in State Tournament against Perry County would be preferable. I just stated he didnt have any stand out plays in the short video. There are 3 spots for Finalist, im sure Newby will have one of them. I just voicing my opinion that Jacob Tucker should have 1 of the other 2.

    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
    • Heard Seq has gotten a lot stronger this off season. Can’t wait to see how the boys do this year
