And Friendship would not be a guaranteed win for MJHS.

PS Randy is not my buddy whose kids go to FCS, although you got the first initial correct

Agreed, I know all the boys at FCS as well, 90% of these players, have either played for me, against me, or with my sons. FCS has a good team.....

Am I reading this right?!?! Are you saying that Friendship would/could compete with Mount Juliet? Please tell me I'm reading this wrong....

That's exactly what I am saying, FCS can compete with MJHS. FightinIllini knows MJ baseball better than most and he knows FCS and he thinks it would be a competitive game.

I can say that I have watched 80% of the FCS players from the time they were 9 years old. I have watched 90% of the MJ players since they were 7 years old. Most of these players inter mingle on summer teams, a few of FCS players are from MJ. Looking at both squads FCS can put a team on the field that can play with MJ.

If they were playing one 7 inning game and both teams throw their ace it could be an entertaining game. Theoretically, if they were to play a 3 game series it would be tough for FCS. MJ is a much larger school, their pitching depth would be the difference.

Both are state tourney caliber teams in their respective classes.

I would love to see that 3 game series though, I'd make the drive from Cosby to see it. My college roommate told me that you did request that he not coach your kids one season at the MJ League.

Really, I don't remember having made such a request, what age was that, the last time we played in the Mj league was awhile back.

Honestly, it might not have been as much about your roommate as it was me and another coach trying to 'play the rules' to put a team together. But then again, I'm pretty opinionated and bullheaded.

No, you don't know me at all. Like I said I live in Cosby, TN and have lived there all my life.

He didn't think there was any harm or hard feelings over your request, he said he enjoyed playing against you so much he'd rather play against than with you.

Gee, why don't y'all just get a room, all that roommate crap and former player stuff...probably not the first kids not wanting to be on your team. Sounds like you have a real grip on the Wilson scene, since you know 70% percent of this & 80% of that. Again, have you given much thought to just being a dad and not a knowitall jerk?

Wow you have issues we are not even talking to you...... I tell you what since you need some attention, what HS does your son play for? I'm assuming it's a 9AAA school since your are "green" about the MJ program. How about we meet somewhere and discuss it?

Or are you one of those guys that likes to hide behind the message board?

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
