Metroman
For the entire season, I have thought that there were six teams that were considerably better than everyone else in the state. Moving from East to West, they are Science Hill, Riverdale, Mt. Juliet, Clarksville, Memphis Overton, and Memphis Central. With no offense to Morristown East and Lawrence County, the draw seems to set up in favor of Overton and Science Hill. They will, in theory, only have to play two of the other top six. While the other 4 will have to win three against the best. Here are my picks Overton over Morristown East Riverdale over Mt. Juliet Clarksville over Central Science Hill over Lawrence County Riverdale over Overton Clarksville over Science Hill Riverdale over Clarksville I guess I contradicted the opening paragraph:)
ccalum
Well said. I was excited to see those 6 make it as well (sometimes the best teams stub their toe in regions or substate), however, I wouldn't be surprised in LC beats SH. I am basing this partially on my mid state bias, and the fact that I'm not real sure who SH has played this year. I think there are more teams this year who have the talent to take the gold ball than last year. Riverdale's gonna be hard to beat, though. Juliet in a tournament back in December, as well as Bob Jones, AL(considered by many to be the best team in the state of AL, won the AL state title last year). They also thumped Morristown East last week for the Region 1-AAA title. Science Hill will be a tough out for any of the remaining teams. They don't have a lot of size, but they are extremely talented. They're quick, disciplined, and play great team ball. Don't forget this exact same group of girls beat Clarksville last year in the state tournament and came within a hair of winning the whole thing. Swipes
How did they come within a hair of winning the whole thing when Riverdale and Central were the ones who played for the title If they would have beaten Memphis Central last year in the semi's they would have beaten Riverdale is what he is getting at. They played Memphis Central alot better than Riverdale and almost pulled the upset. They return the whole team from last year and have big time wins over some great teams like Bob Jones AL and 10 point win over Mt. Juliet
nebuntyn
Here is my take. If you buy into hype and propaganda, and you read the headlines, most would say Clarksville.I have not seen Clarksville play but I've seen Basheera Graves play, and she is the real deal. Central and Riverdale have met 4 times over the past two years and they have split. This includes splitting two games this year. I've seen 3 the 4 games. If Central plays to their potential, they are better. I saw the Science Hill vs Central last year. Science Hill was pretty good. If Overton had a good bench, they could pull this off.Their starting five is good. The reason Overton lost to Riverdale in the tournament last year is because Riverdale was deeper.Lawrence County and Morristown will not win, period. I don't think Riverdale will beat Mt. Juliet for a third time this year. The florida signee for Clarksville can shoot but she can be a defensive liability. Here is the skinny......If Centrals Danielle Ballard controls the game, Central will repeat as state champs. Ballard does not have to score to control the game. She has great handles. The sad part is,Central and Clarksville meet in the first round. I think Central and Clarksville are the two best teams.

Are you serious, Central doesnt look like near the team as last year, Riverdale beat them by 17 last time and Overton beat them twice. They didnt even win their region and you think they are the best team in the state. As for saying a team wont win period is the dumbest thing you can say, this is state and anything can happen, just look at last year. chev
Central will have a tough time with Ms Graves. The Florida signee can shoot and play D( she draws the toughest offense peremiter player each game), Go thru Ms. Graves and Clarksville advances. Just my opinion. Central was without Danielle Ballard, for most of the second half of the season. The dumbest thing you say or do, is calling someone/something dumb because you don't believe it to be true. We can agree to disagree. I don't take these post personal. Do I make myself clear dummy? Edited March 5, 2012 by nebuntyn

So what about last year? I also saw Riverdale play Central at Central this year, and they didn't look as good as the rematch. They play each other well, that's all that means. Who made it personal?!? I didnt call you anything, just said it was dumb to say any team cant win and I think anyone would agree with that. You dont get to state by being an average team. Do I make myself clear!!
