Vic Wharton (Rumored to be MOVING Again?)

Doesn't "working out with" a particular team commit you to that team? I mean where does he live? Is his family in a motorhome, so he can check-out all potential schools? It would seem if you leave a private school, then you could only attend and/or participate in school-related athletic practices with a public school you're zoned for until you establish a new residence and partition the TSSAA for a legitimate transfer of residence approval. You could probably visit other schools, but not participate in a workout or practice.

I would like to see how TSSAA handles this case.

T$$AA has a definition of "Practice", and "Practice" is not allowed at this time of year. A player can only "Practice" with a team at a school in which he is enrolled. All that is allowed at this time of year is "Weight training/conditioning". There does not appear to be any restriction upon where or with whom a player can engage in "Weight training/conditioning".

Cool. Sounds like the Mountain Troll (and perhaps others on the "mountain") have been studying the TSSAA rules closely as of late. :roflol:

THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THOUGHT THEY WERE....

I'M A MAN a 42 yr old MAN TALK TO ME TALK TO ME...

Kid needs to get some some where where he can display his talents. He is a gifted/talented player. :thumb: However he better enjoy it while he can. Size will limit him beyond high school, where everyone will be as or more talented and 20-50 lbs bigger.

Needs to play somewhere in Nashville or Knoxville.. Let him play

VW: He ain't ALL THAT, even if he IS older than most in his class. If CB had of played football, he'd make ALL y'all forget about this boy.

kbrks: The first and only one to ask about the timing of this kid and/or his dads' alleged 'violations.' Hmmm???

coachrus: You would have a REAL hard time in a courtroom.

CPA: Some say, 'well, he violated such-and-such rule and they dealt with it,' but what did they know and when did they know it? And their testimony: Hmmm...a bona-fide AAU basketball team masquerading as an above-board high school team that wins a state championship. The pride and bravado of their coaches, fans and administration was...uhhh, revealing. It's just sooo much 'mo betta' when you do it fairly and 'by the book.'

Lastly: This is a silly thread and I'm a little ('bout this much -> (<-->) ;) ) ashamed for posting on it.

My 2¢.

    • I have no idea who your team is, but Memphis and other Shelby Co. schools have hardly made a dent, if you’re talking Game 15 appearances. Outside of a couple by Whitehaven, I can’t recall the last team in a final.
    • Robbed you guy at a chance of 3 state championships. You never kne, sond best team in the west my have beat you also, but you sure deserved the chance to play um.
    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
