Verb58
With both teams coming off unexpected losses, who bounces back this week? Is the game being played at the Middle School stadium in town or does the high school have a field off of Hwy 76? Both teams will have to put in a good weeks practice. Not an excuse but not having to worry about the schools starting will have to be refreshing for the kids allowing them to focus properly. SHS still plays at the Middle School in town , seating is limited compared to back in the day. Old visitor side seating would hold the whole stadium seating capacity today and some. First couple of rows on visitors side are at ground level and the team and coaches will block your view.

The team that is the most ticked off and hungry for wins will bounce back. From what i saw last night, the Jackets better have a very good wk of practice if they want to be competitive. Gallatin lose much from last yr?

GWAVE1
Gallatin leads the series 28-27-2. This is a long time rivalry that featured 2 of the states top coaches in Boyce Smith for Springfield and Calvin Short for Gallatin. Gallatin will have a tough time in stopping the Farmer kid. Looks like he is Mr Do Everything, catching passes and running the football. Heavy emphasis on special teams and getting the offense into the endzone for the Wave. waveyard14
the wave takes this one by at least 2 scores. central is much improved this year and we are still just getting our feet wet under this new staff. springfield also had a coaching change and lost to a rival team from a lower class. not as much depth or athleticism as us. and if greenbrier can push their lines around then we shouldn't struggle at all. gallatin wins 35-

Looks like he is Mr Do Everything, catching passes and running the football. Heavy emphasis on special teams and getting the offense into the endzone for the Wave. SHS -Gallatin first played in 1926, with the Jackets winning. When Boyce Smith was at SHS the Jackets dominated the series, in 1968 GHS defeated SHS breaking a very long losing skid against the Jackets. The Wave then defeated the Jackets in 1969,1970 and 1971, the last year Boyce Smith coached at SHS, after 43 years his record was 288-116-34 still one of the records in the state and nation, his record is also prior to the play-off era ,with the exception of his final three seasons, making it even more impressive. The Calvin Short era was dominated by the Wave with the exception of the 1980 and 1981 seasons when the Jackets upset the Wave. SHS was coached by recent TSSAA Hall of Fame inductee Jerry Pearson also a SHS alum. The Jackets have only defeated the wave 3 times since the Boyce Smith era, the other win came in 1975 when Jimbo Pearson was coach, he died of a heart attack in the spring of 1976, he was the younger brother Jerry. Springfield actually leads the series 30-28-2 .
ogor
Double team Farmer on defense, and kick away from Farmer on Special teams. Watch Farmer when he comes out of the huddle and you can "tell" if he is going to get the ball. Also, watch out on kickoff, Springfield has players charging the kicker and (designed) plays to cross the field to blindside players on the opposite side of the field. Too many penalties for Springfield and overmatched in the trenches in Friday's game. I believe they will continue to improve, but I did not see a lot of depth, and they looked tired up front. Good luck to both teams! Rival games can be tricky to predict.

GREENWAVE84EG
Huge game for Gallatin in my opinion. There hasn't been a Wave team start 0-2 since 1966, when that team lost their first four games in Coach Barron's debut year as head coach. This team must cut down on the penalties and special teams mistakes to have any hope of success. It's always been said that a team improves the most between the first and second game, and I'm sure the coaching staff will work very hard this week towards that end. We are planning our dinner stop at the famous Catfish House, our first trip there. All you regulars out there, will 5:30 be early enough to get there and still have plenty of time to make the 7:00 kickoff?
tandem
Gallatin defends 9AAA pride and takes this one 24-10. I hope the other 9AAA vs 10AAA matchup goes the same way.
