Cheatham County beat a very good Fairview team in the opener and this past week they beat a 4A playoff team (Sycamore) very badly. It was 42-7 very early in the second half. I don't know if the Cubs are "Top 5" worthy just yet but they are definitely playing like a Top 10 team at this point.

I think placing Alcoa that low based on a loss to Maryville is insane. Alcoa was the better football team for 3 and a half quarters but then they fell apart late. I would still put them and CAK as #'s 1A. & 1B. in Class 3A. Alcoa's running game is dominant and their defense will be tough to score on for a lot of people. CAK has a great offense once again that appears to be unstoppable. Their defense is not vulnerable but with their offense you don't have to pitch shutouts to win.

Smith County, CPA, Camden, Milan, Fairview, and Tyner are all Top 10 worthy as well.

Hickman County and East Hickman both deserve credit for good starts to the season. The same is true for Westmoreland.

Austin-East, Pearl-Cohn, & Goodpasture are the 3 biggest surprises for being winless at this stage in the game.

Alcoa looks unstoppable by any team in 3A. If CAK is going to give them a run for their money later this season they are going to have to continue to develop their defense. Despite CAK 's firepower on offense, alcoa appears to have the ability to control the clock.

You may be right and if so, then Alcoa would move back to the top spot. I was trying to give teams credit for what they have done so far on the field.

CPA beat Goodpasture who is a top ten 3A team.

Cheatham County beat Fairview, another top ten team.

Milan struggled against Class A Peabody but won. May need to move Alcoa ahead of Milan.

The cream will rise to the top over time.

If Howdoitknow2 thinks Cheatham at #3 is too high, then a revision may be in order. No one knows the Cubs better than him.

Based on the feedback and the collective wisdom on these boards, here is my revised 3A top ten after week One:

1. CAK

2. CPA

3. Alcoa

4. Milan

5. Cheatham County

6. Camden

7. Tyner

8. Smith County

9. Fairview

10. Kingston

That's probably more like it. I still see Alcoa, CPA as 2,3. Cheatham, Milan are pretty even unless Milan has fallen off, which I doubt. Just my opinion.
