Bruce Lussier on the Hot Seat?

Bruce is a good man. His style can be cold. Father Ryan needs to take a page out of the CPA, David Lipscomb hand book and get out of D2.

Their school mission isnt the same as the Ensworths of the world and they will continue to struggle unless they change leagues.

Also the Parochial feeder system is broken in its ability to produce kids to compete at the D2 level.

Get out of D2 ??? And go where ?? Ryan will always have to be able to give financial aid, period. No they cannot give as much as others but they have to offer it. Thus they either drop football - they won't. Strip the studeny body enrollment down to D2A levels - they can't. Or get better. Reality.

Are you kidding me....Father Ryan has a 3-34 record against MBA, BA and Ensworth since 1998. They are 56-79 over that period assuming they lose the remaining 3 games this year

2000 3-6

2001 5-6

2002 1-9

2003 2-8

2004 2-8

2005 3-7

2006 5-6

2007 9-3

2008 5-5

2009 8-4

2010 4-7

2011 5-7

2012 2-5*

Father Ryan has had two winning seasons in 13 years....you expect me to believe this is all coaching....not buying it..sorry....

I beg to differ Father Ryan had the running back two years ago that won the state in the 100m dash and other players that can stand toe to toe with anyone. But its the coaches that can't compete with BA, Ensworth, and MBA.

Baylor,

You can stage it anyway you want. But 3 things are very obvious.

1-MBA is winning with Ryan's Feeder system players. The Coach has to have the ability and knowledge to recruit said players away from other schools. They are leaving the system because the coach and direction the school is in. (Head Coach)

2- Ryan has more talent walking the Halls than they do playing the game. It is amazing that as Freshmen they have a winning record and as Juniors and seniors they lose. (Coaching)

3- you have to have the resources. Ryan's Alumni would support it if they believed in the Direction the program is going. They will not put there money behind a LOSER of a program. (Coaching and Administration)

You can spell it anyway you want. You can put on the Purple Glasses and see it through there perspective. But, to see things clearly. Step away and listen to the players, their parents and above all else THE ALUMNI.

If your not willing to listen to the masses of ALUMNI. Then it is a MUTE point.

So does the Ryan freshman team usually beat the MBA, Ensworth and BA's of the world?

Your credibility diminished when you started comparing Freshman teams, lol. As for #2, that is laughable and poor speculation. 3 Has more to do with the school than the state of athletics. But again the biggest difference is between Father Ryan's philosophy and how it relates to dispersing the financial aid at their disposal. The alumni should pony up donations so they can afford to admit more athletes. Nothing wrong with Bruce as a coach, he does need a good offensive coordinator. Ryan should hire Matthews away from Siegel.

"Your not willing." "MUTE point." Apparently you can "spell it any way you want."

Sorry, couldn't resist. Resume the debate.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
