Bearden vs Maryville

Yes, i would believe a lot of them are born and raised there, ML...But, it happens at all schools, the transfer part...Well, most schools, not all...You as well as other Maryville fans should expect us outsiders who don't know much about the program to question how the Rebs continue this dominance year in and year out. We (OR) fans had to put up with it, too for a long time, so i can understand why it would get on your nerves, but you have to expect it..From what i can understand even the Rebs middle school teams and even pee wee teams are dominant to this day and have been awhile...I would think a lot has to do with coaching and preparation, and an outstanding workout regimen myself..

They get a transfer or a move in from time to time but not as many as most would think. Most of the kids have played together since youth leagues

Very tough game. Very easily could have gone Bearden's way. Tough spot on the opening drive in 3rd deep in Rebel territory turned momentum. I though Dawgs were robbed of that first down. Great play call by Maryville on 2nd TD. 3rd TD was meaningless after Bearden was pressing on 4th down with under 5min lft. In my opinion the Bearden boys played tough, just as many good athletes as Maryville but offensive coaching edge goes to Maryville. Here is why, Waters played a lot of fullback for Bearden but in 1rst half had 3 carries for 54 yds. Maryville could not stop him, actually nobody stops him this season except Bearden's coaches, he got no more carries..what the heck. Twice on key 3rd and 4th down and 2 yd situations they did something stupid instead of just handing Waters the ball from the I..he had 9 tackles on D and played entire game both ways so maybe they thought they needed to save him for that but but here is my opinion. We can beat the easier teams with him at fullback and running the other speedy backs but Waters has size and isn't slow, it always takes 2-3 guys to tackle him. To beat West or Maryville in a rematch he needs 15 carries..something has to give or we will get close but no cigar in big games.

It was a good game. Maryville could have possibly been up more at half but two turnovers killed drives. Red zone offense was the difference in the game.Maryville cashed in Bearden didn't. Not sure I would call the last TD meaningless. It made it a three possession game and put it away. Good game by both teams.

    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
