Well UC and Gibson played this summer, and last summer with neither contest being a problem for UC. Gibson didn't like the ball pressure UC applied. I agree they will be a very good team in single A but so are two or three other schools in 14A. Still look to see UC on top in 14A next year.

LOL, Gibson not liking ball pressure? We have ball handlers that can handle a press... I promise you that Gibson has faced or will face a tougher press than what Union City puts will throw at them.

Also, Gibson Co. in Single A will not be a good team for just 1 or 2 years... our younger classes are absolutely loaded with plenty of talent to compete and there's enough in the middle school's to keep us a force in single A ball.. Not trying to put too much pressure on this girl, but we have a girl that is a Freshman right now that is the next big thing out of Gibson Co. If you watch us play, you probably won't catch who she is because she blends right in as a Freshman. In all honesty, you really don't want to see Gibson Co. girls basketball in Single A. I'm not being arrogant saying that, but this is just like when Jackson Co. dropped from Double A to Single A when they did....

I figured, we have only missed state one time since our move to A, 2008-2009 we were upset by Pickett Co.. We have made it to state 12 times in the last 15 years. We were beat by McMinn Central in the substate in 2004, and were completely robbed by the officals in a region semis loss to David Lipcomb in our last year in AA in 2005. That was the game Coach Brown was given a Technical foul for looking at the offical, and the entire student section was thrown out of the game. I would say close to 100 people.

Houston County is really strong this year. They did lose to Loretto by 7 but were playing without their PG who had both knees scoped about 6 weeks ago. They only have one senior with 3 strong juniors,a sophomore PG and a 6 ft freshman that is averaging 13 points a game. They will be top three in the state next year.

Greenfieldfan, Jackson Co. didn't exactly blow Union City out last year at state and Jackson Co. lost several good players off that team. Jackson Co. does return Jaycee Coe and the Mackenzie girl, but Union City returns everything. I expect Union City to make a better showing in Murfreesboro this year and possibly win the whole show. They're playing without Fair right now and still winning some tough games. I think they will go undefeated in the district during the regular season as well....

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
