You're right op, the tssaa is definitely out to get little ole sp, you finally figured it out....heck, I always thought that the tssaa was in bed with sp and that's why they watered the playoffs down and took fcs, boyd and trousdale out of 1a, so the pirates could get to the state every year..... I agree that the strength of schedule should play into it, maybe they should use a little common sense when choosing.......I also think that an 8-2 mc team shouldn't be higher seeded than a 7-3 trousdale for example.........

Old Pirate never said SP was being singled out but a team that upgrades their schedule should get some strength of schedule consideration. Pert near sure when SP gets the shaft again this year some coaches will take a long look at down grading strength of schedules! BTW it matters who & where you play in all sports not jest high school!

The new reclassification will be something to keep your eye on RLH, but we don't know where the cutoffs will be as of now.

With 523, Jasper will likely land in 3a. Whitwell may end up 2a. Boyd may stay 2a because they can't get bumped more than one by the 1.8 unless that refers to A to AA in which case they would endup in 3a playoffs.

I think that refers to the regular season class. In the four-year period ending this year, Goodpasture at 350 went to AA, and 3A playoffs when they could have been 1A playoffs with no multiplier. I'm not 100 percent on that though. CPA at 328 was another, moved to 3A playoffs with the multiplier. I had Boyd-Buchanan as the smallest school in Class AA/3A, and Marion as one of the five largest in A/2A. Even if that's right, any schools smaller than Boyd-Buchanan deciding to go to Division II could drop them down.

If you follow through the guidlines for reclassification that TSSAA put on their website, (take out coop schools, apply multiplier, take out DII schools, etc..), There should be approximately 114 schools in each regular season classification. Doing that, Marion is ranked 114. We will either be the biggest school in Class A or the smallest school in Class AA (after multiplier is applied). The unknown at this point is how many teams that would be Class A will decide to play up and how many of the small privates will decide to go to DII-A.

SPitt gets hosed because of their schedule again this year. It's not fair and TSSAA should give some consideration to the strength of schedule. Someone alluded to the fact that SP would be looking differently at how they schedule. The problem with that is that across the State, Vic has a "reputation" for running up the score on smaller, weaker teams. Whether he tries to or not, plays everyone but the waterboy or not, it really doesn't matter because all that the other coaches from other parts of the state see is the final score in the paper. It would be very hard for SP to soften their schedule so they don't get screwed with seeding in the playoffs. You guys on here want to be the big dogs, you want to beat your chests and laugh it up everytime you get a mercy rule on someone. You talk about your half-centry club. And then, when it comes playoff time, you want to cry because you've lost to a couple much bigger schools because no one your size will play you.. OP knows what the old saying is.. "You make your bed, you lay in it"... Just keep in mind, Marion Co was the original Bullies of the Valley, and for the same reasons we had to bulk up our schedule.. We also know how hard that fall from the top is and SP is gonna experience it pretty soon.. Some of you guys are gonna be on suicide watch 24/7 when that happens...

LOPAO........You Jasper fellers have them glasses on again early this morning, musta worn them to bed. SP has been on the up side of Jasper far to long with total wins for you fellers to be so yappy......The Pirates have been the bullies of this valley with total wins, total SVC championships, total state football championships, total state runner ups, total state baseball championships, total state playoffs wins, total state championship appearances, total Mr Football winners and has won state championships in EVERY decade since the playoff system began. Granted the Warriors had a fine run & congrats on that but you Jasper folkes have become the "coaching carasell of the valley" & not the bullies of the valley. Now with Jasper's dominance during KC days the warriors were the elite program but never overtook the Pirates in total wins....so until that day comes you fellers can only dream about it. OP says rumor from the local liers tables is the Pirates pipeline is plenty full of young talent and regularly beats area teams. Now figure there will be some down years for SP standards but consistency is what makes the Pirates different from the want-a-bees. Most SP folkes knows all to well the the Pirates are not as strong this year as in the past but the younguns continue to play hard and perhaps will stay healthy and will again be the last team playing come the playoffs! BTW, when did Jasper ever trump the Pirates in total wins? You Jasper fellers do some homework & get back to us on when & how long it lasted?

I was going to ask someone how this rule would be applied to us. That is a good point. Guess we will just have to see how it all works out.

HELLOOO!!!! You keep on thinking that baby! South Pittsburg has had many good teams over the years thats struggled in little league and Jr High. Dont count your chickens before they hatch baby! We got some young boys that are going to be good! HELLOO!! Just because we dont have several dominent classes like we have had here recently doesnt mean we are about to fall off like Jasper has! Come on baby your better than that! Yous worry about Jasper and that losing streak at 7. We down here are just fine baby! HELLOOO!! ONE TIME!!

Purplegrad, how long do you think SP will stay down? Teams are as good as the feeder programs. I understand the middle school lost to Marion by a couple scores 2 years ago. I know they aren't as good this year either. The older little league teams seem to be doing quite well. SP will be down some, but I don't see them being pitiful either.
