1a and 2a final quad pairings

Recommended Posts

The two times we've made it to the semis we've faced an overrated quad 1 opponent. How many times has the winner of Quad 1 went to the championship in the last 5 years? Since we've went to 6 classes you've had TC in 09, Signal in 10, and FCS in 11 all come out of quad 2 and beat quad 1. In 08 TC beat quad 1, in 07 SP beat quad 1. So to answer my question, that's zero in the last 5 years. And something else that's funny is the winner of quad 2 has won the ship the last 5 years as well

Looking forward to playing it out. The only thing I can say is that this years quad 1 has at least 3 teams that will have what it takes to get to Cookeville. Not sure which one, but one of us will be there.

Last year(and again i dont know why i am taking up for them)Grace would have beaten anybody in the 2A playoffs by at least two TD's and Dresden by 50!2A was lucky GCA was on probation, they were the best team in 1a,2a,and 3a last yr.Heck they beat the 3A state champion.Greenback beat the semi final team OS(pitiful semi team)by over 3 TD's last yr. Sadly, there are those in every aspect of life who feel the need to become "little dictators". A ref intentionally blowing a high school game for money, prejudice, anger, whatever is a hideous display of immaturity.

We deserved to be on probation. We did our time. Now it is time to play the game on the field. Hopefully we will get our chance at the big time.

OK, thought you may have had some insight on the quads that I hadn't ran into yet. If your semi's opponent is your main concern the list of East teams that could be a factor is a longer one than just GCA. They are favored but right now quad 1 has 4 district champions & a runner-up if everyone wins out. All five are 9-1 teams if that happens.

Trust me, with our defense, marion will have to be worried about way more than the semifinal opponent. Every game will be a dogfight for us maybe except for boyd and friendship, not sure we fare to well in those. Trust me, our offense will put up points, but we have to be able to defend. The next two years, marion will become a major player in 2a football, should have their best teams since the mid nineties.

The common denominator is SP is getting screwed twice in a row. JMO though.

That is almost a laughable statement I think ambastradomos. I thought when carter and that childress man watered down the playoffs so much and moved all the privates to 2a and away from sp that they were in bed with the pirate coaches or something. What they did was basically gift wrapped numerous state titles for the pirates and why they haven't won many since they have done that is beyond me. No one in 1or 2a, and very few in 3a have the athletes to match up with the caliber that sp produces. Sp should have won multiple titles in a row now since the switch, is this not the truth??

It is true that SP had good chances, but it comes down to line play. Unfortunately since 2008 our line play hasn't been great. I believe alot of people think 1-2 fast guys automatically means championships. A good line is the ingredient that is always needed as well.

They are getting screwed though. Last year they were in quad 1 with 3 district winners. This year they are going to put SP in quad 2 with??? You guessed it, three district winners while the other quadrant is a bunch of runner ups and 3-4 place teams. It really should be reevaluated.

One or two, really?? Maybe 6 or 7 most years some more than that. The collection of athletes sp has is always impressive, rivaling most big city schools. I think either last year or the year before their line averaged 275, no reason they shouldn't have been dominant, just puzzling to me really. I do agree though that it needs to be reevaluated, and it probably will be in about four years.

Throwing out weights for linemen doesn't mean anything. You can be 300 and still be god awful. There's a lot more that goes into a lineman than his weight

No joke mr football God..........their lineman weren't fat slobs, they were well built lineman that looked the part and were bragged on before the season that they could have been the best ever at sp and the transfer was being looked at by several colleges.

    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
    • Gunner Warren was the second starter, freshman. SP #1 arm impressed me last night.
