Who do you suggest I put on the ballot? I can recommend three kickers in all classes. Negative comments do not work in this thread. This is the time to tell us who IS deserving, not who is not. This thread is for kickers only.

TSSAA Press Release:

For the sixth consecutive year, the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards are being underwritten by a generous grant from the Tennessee Titans Foundation. The TSSAA is very appreciative of the generosity of team owner Bud Adams for his financial support of these awards and to the Titans organization for its wide-ranging support of student-athletes across our state.

Thirty-three finalists will again be honored at this year’s awards luncheon. This group is to include three finalists for Mr. Football Lineman of the Year and three finalists for Mr. Football Back of the Year in each classification (Class A, AA, and AAA in Division I and Class A and AA in Division II). There will be three finalists, regardless of classification, for the Mr. Football Kicker of the Year award. They are to be selected via a vote of football coaches and selected members of the media. The winners of the coveted award are to receive the distinguished Mr. Football trophy with the other finalists being presented plaques.

These outstanding individuals and their schools are to be recognized along with their parents and coaches at the prestigious Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Luncheon, scheduled Monday, November 26 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center in Murfreesboro.

Each coach is asked to submit the name of up to three players in each classification for the Mr. Football Lineman of the Year Award and the Mr. Football Back of the Year Award. You are also asked to submit three players, regardless of classification, for the Mr. Football Kicker of the Year award. These votes are a nominating process only. A selection committee will meet to choose Mr. Football Lineman, Back, and Kicker of the Year. It is not necessary to vote for three players in each category, but that is your option. If you feel an individual player is one of the top three players in both categories, then you may list him in both. You may not vote for players on your own team!

In order to insure the integrity of the award, we need the vote of each high school head football coach in Tennessee, and that includes you. Please take some time, discuss this with your staff and return it to us immediately.

In order for your ballot to be counted, it must be received in our office via mail or fax (1-615-889-0544) no later than FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26. Please help honor Tennessee’s finest by responding today.

Jonathon King, senior at Farragut. Thus far this year, he's had a couple of games averaging over 50 a punt (no long distance rolls either). High percentage of kick-offs go into and out of the end zone. Fieldgoals aren't what they the previous two years (five over 50 yards). There's a reason that Chris Sailer and Kohl's kicking have him ranked the number one kicker/punter combo guy in the nation. I'm not from Farragut or a fan, just pointing him out.

Cody Morton, a senior at Tullahoma. He is relatively new, but solid. High percentage of kickoffs are touchbacks. This season on punts, he has given up some distance to work on hang time, but he is in the mid 4 second range now. Still a solid 40 - 45 yards per punt. Has a huge leg, and being recruited by several schools all over the country. Off the field, he's a great kid with a great future.

Farragut SR Jonathan King is 4th all-time in Tennessee with 29 career field goals. He is 3 shy of tying James Wilhoit and Alberto Diaz for 2nd most field goals in state history. Jonathan has hit 5 field goals of 50+ yards and 8 from 45 yards or farther. His career long is 53 yards. In addition, he is 91 for 94 on PATs and has 112 career touchbacks. This year Jonathan is averaging 45.7 yards on 29 punts. Only 4 of those punts have been returned, while 10 have been fair caught, downed or angled out of bounds inside the 20. His longest punt covered 70 yards. ESPN has Jonathan ranked 13th nationally among kicking prospects ( http://espn.go.com/c...3/view/position ) and number 1 in Tennessee. Besides his football exploits, Jonathan is a model citizen and student.

Ryan Jenkins- Mt Juliet : kickoffs are in the end zone over 95% of the time. Made 53 yard field goal vs LaVergne.

A little more on Ryan Jenkins from Mount Juliet. He is a 3 year starter and was the District 9AAA Special Teams Player of the Year as a sophomore. He has scored 222 points in his career and is an astounding 23/27 on fgs (85%), 2/2 from 50+ (long of 53), has 43 touchbacks on kickoffs this year alone, has hit 153 extra points in his career, and has averaged over 40 yards as a punter with a long of 58. His fg breakdown by year (11/11 as a sophomore, 7/10 last year, and 5/6 so far this year). He has made over 90% of his fg's from 40+ yards, and is being looked at by several D1 schools. In addition, Ryan is a top 10% student in a graduating class of almost 500 and has scored a 28 on the ACT. Thanks for the consideration.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
