I garuntee you Grider has our boys lifting alot of weights this week so we can be real strong for the game Friday. I was reading in my Murphy Fair book about these blockers for Gordonsville. They have 4 really good boys. They have that Coen boy that is 6'3 250lbs. This Coen boy was a football finalist last year. My book says some colleges are looking at him right now. They also have this Payne boy that is 6'4 245lbs. My book says this Payne boy has really quick feet. Does that Marshall man make him chase chickens to make his feet quick? They also have this Swaim boy that is 5'11 205 lbs and this Garciaromo boy that is 6'4 250lbs. Three of these boys are big enough to play in the SEC. Grider better train our boys to stay real low so they can nock a hole for our runners to run through. You think im joking but im not.

Sorry Roy but Swaim boy tore his knee up before the season and just had surgery two weeks ago, Great kid and we do miss him on the line but we've had others step up...

not downing bb or gca seen them on film only but i can guaronteeee you havent seen a defense like you are fixing to see

Boyds Defense is better than Gordonsvilles in my opinion. I thought that the Boyd game is very similar to a Gordonsville SP type game. Think about it, Boyd has an excellent returning line, great fundamental defense, a fast quarterback, and a tough nosed tailback...Almost very similar to Gordy....Hopefully we won't shoot ourselves in the foot...I am concerned with one thing though...Our schools are out Friday due to a staff development day...typically we don't play too well when we are out...popcorneater.gif

I always feared that on fall break... But this being the game it is, I think your Pirates will be just fine

Let me ask you a question. Since we are out Friday, is Grider going to have practice Friday morning and make our boys lift some weights? I garuntee you it will help if we have a training session one more time before this game. Let me ask you another question. Are you still flying to the game with pegleg? I am really concerned that you will make it their safely. Pegleg said he has had his flying permit revoked for bad flying. I would think twice about getting in a plane with him, just let him fly your computer to the game. You think im joking but im not.

Pegleg is driving Grider's bus now instead of flying his plane...Hopefully we will make it safely.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
