Covington vs. Fulton (This Wheeler man against this Black man)

Covington had 300 yards on the ground Friday night. Last time I checked that was not "struggling to run the ball." You can chase a guy down from behind all you want, but if your a dead dog when you get there what good does it do you? Fact is that #5 and #1 for Covington were the fastest two guys on the field. And the best two on the field also. Once again all this talk about liberty and those cats are at the house. End of discussion.

never said anything about how good liberty was.

I don't care what Johnston White runs his 40 time in.. He is a heckuva RB who will get All-State honors two years in row! Leading his team to the Semis last year and then State this year! He is one heckuva football player!

Last year all the Covington fans said the best back in West Tn is not even playing (Carlos Williams). Then I watched Johnston White run all over CC! I said if the Williams kid is better than the White kid he's got to be amazing! Had Covington picked all year to go to State... Good luck to the Chargers! Bring the Gold Ball back West!

The Williams kid is a great back too my friend. Liberty got a taste of him too. He had 4 or 5 carries for over 70 yards and a TD as well. Don't listen to the liberty fans when they say Covington struggled to run the ball. It's just plain false

lol ouch that hurts more than you will ever know, well not really i'm used to lexington losing early in the playoffs it has come to be expected. I heard it's worse to get there and lose than lose early so haha ahead of time so childish. trust me i'm not on your bandwagon and i'll post wherever i please. i wish you were the only disrespectful fan of the chargers so i could muster up some respect for covington, however as i left the game covington fans were singing nah nah nah nah hey hey hey goodbye to the liberty fans as they exited the field. grow up guys well as i said to giles the other day i can't wait until fulton leaves a sour taste in your mouths, and it will happen I hope fulton fans show you the respect you have shown your opponents after they hand you a beating which is none.

I know it wasn't me it's a bunch of students that are happy their team won an i thought wer here to talk about the Covington chargers going 15-0!!!!! Not some garbage that took place after the game.so wen ur team plays on thanksgiving two years Ina row u can talk jack but until then hush puppie bc we run Tennessee be at cookeville Saturday at 3 o'clock an watch two teams have a great game an Covington run the ball to bring the gold ball home... son thankkk yeeeee

It's hard to stop a wing t offense if you have a good stable of RBs. Which Covington has, and if you do find a way to stop it you have to have a bit of a passing game.. Which Covington has! 300 yards on the ground is not struggling.. Some ppl just don't like to point out the long runs they only like to point out the 3 and 4 yard runs and call that "struggling"!

LHS, I was standing at the end zone as Liberty fans exited, and I didn't hear the singing.....probably some younger fans. Covington respects all opposing fans and tries to be very accommodating...ask Crocket Co, Sheffield, Hillcrest, etc. One thing that we are proud of is our respect for the other teams! You shouldn't assume that all Charger fans are like the ones singing!

OK...just read all the comments.

So let me get this straight...

Covington has 2...not 1, but 2 SEC caliber skill players in #5 and #1...BUT they have #62 returning punts!!!!

Just trying to wrap my mind around that one!!!

Ummmm...could you come back later if you wanna discuss football? They're only worried 'bout who the fastest guys in the west are just now...maybe football later in the week...if this gets settled...how about, say Thursday...or maybe Friday at noon?

#1 has signed to play baseball at ole miss. Haven't heard about any SEC team recruiting #5 though he is an outstanding high school player. First time I've ever seen a guard return punts myself lol. Just my opinion... If Fulton can control the line of scrimmage and not let the covington running backs break the line of scrimmage and force covington to pass then it will be a great game for Fulton. But let one of the covington backs get 3 or 4 yds past the line and the race to the end zone is on. Trezevant stacked their d and had success in shutting covington down in the second half. Liberty played a 4/4/3 and couldn't stop covington running or passing the ball. Go figure.

    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
