Portland, Lebanon, Station Camp, Stewarts Creek, Trousdale, and Hendersonville. Probably 1-1 in the playoffs.

What makes you think the Green Wave will beat Portland, Station Camp and Hendersonville ? Lebanon now has a very good coach; so they will not be an automatic win. Station Camp has a lot of talent coming back, Hendersonville will be tough as always. Portland has really improved and has talent and believe in themselves. They will be very tough.

It was actually 2-2 tie Varsity and 2-0 WH JV. So 4-2 overall for WH.

Players are young and/or many positions have little varsity experience. GWave1 assessment is correct. 5-5 is improvement. Upcoming 9th graders should dominate. 2014, 2015, 2016 should be fun.

Not sure what jury is out on the staff. All have coached at Gallatin previously with the exception of Jacques Williams, I believe nephew to Bubba Dunn, who played at Gallatin and Tennessee Tech, coached at Rucker-Stewart as Head and assistant at Portland last year. Quality guy. Mark Williams is in his second stint at Gallatin and has won wherever he has been. Mark Wilson is back after coaching at Cumberland for a few years and has been at Gallatin since the late 90's. Mike Settle is back at Defensive Coordinator and has been here nearly 10 years. He also has previous head coaching experience at Davidson Acamdemy. Randall Silcox played at Gallatin and helped win a title for the greenwave. Charlie Jackson is back and he was previous head coach of the freshmen group a few years back. Even the freshman coaches are returners. These men are great coaches and better people. Some are young coaches but the majority are veteran guys who know well or have played at Gallatin.

I have played for all these coaches when I was there and I can tell you one thing they will put the players in the best position to win.

Heard Gallatin took Clarksville to the woodshed. Anybody got any info?

I think the final was 5-2 Gallatin. Although Gallatin looked pretty good, it did appear to be more of two different approaches to the scrimmage. Gallatin seemed to be pretty comfortable with their personel and it looked like they wanted to get them some good reps and play for the win. Clarksville on the other hand seemed to use it as a chance to evaluate players to help clean up their roster. Gallatin did have a running back go down late in the scrimmage with an injury. Hope he is alright.

It was 5-2. I thought Gallatin looked very good on both sides of the ball, but I was even more impressed with the attitude and discipline. There were very few penalties, and only one turnover that I can recall, and that was on the last play of the scrimmage. It just seems like this team has a different air about them, and are more on the same page, so to speak. I'm excited about this season and the future of the program!

The kid that got hurt late is a sophomore to be, and it was a very serious, ugly looking injury. He did break something in his knee or lower leg, and had surgery late last night. I have heard this morning he came through fine and is doing okay. We need to keep him in our prayers.

i thought we looked pretty dang good myself. the boys went after it hard. and from everything i've heard, clarksville will probably be one of the best teams in their district after henry county. they may have just used it as a roster evaluation, but its still an encouraging performance for the wave in my opinion.

    • Anyone know how the scrimmage at Central went?
    • I grew up watching Greene Devil Football since I could walk and still close with a lot of the coaches so should know my history pretty well lol.  Everything worked out the way it should have but firmly believe McCurry would have won some State Title if he wouldn't been let go (Greeneville still runs the same D he brought here and he let Ballard run the O and stayed out of it when it came to calling plays.  Greeneville was put out in the Semi's McCurry's last year against Maryville and the next year Greeneville stayed in 4a and was State Runner up playing were they were placed for the first time by the TSSAA.). It was definitely a McCurry and Ballard show that turned everything around along with the Community buying in and revamping the weight room and field house. Since Ballard got promoted to HC every Coach after him has been within the Greeneville Coaching staff because your right, they know what it takes to win a state championship.  Ballard was a master mine on O and what i think Greeneville has lacked since he left and let some Championships or making it to the Championship slip away over the last few years
    • Sounds like you know your area history well. Going back and looking the records were better than I thought but mostly still beating Upper East TN schools. Ballard sounds like he came/was promoted at the right time.    I do think it’s no coincidence that them keeping the HCs as guys who were former guys on the staff. Too many times schools want a “state championship” leveled coach from the outside but they don’t know the landscape. Promoting from within will help with less turnover and keep the program consistent.
