Why is finley trying to leave cheatham? Saw his named mentioned in the kenwood post as well.

He is just applying to see if other opportunities/a new challenge is out there. He has been at Cheatham County for 15 years as either a head coach (11) or an assistant (4). He was at TPS in Nashville in 2000 but aside from that one season Cheatham County Cubs Football has been a huge part of his life since 1997. As the head football coach at CCCHS he has taken the Cubs to the playoffs 8 out of 11 seasons and has an overall mark of 68-54 to boot. I would love for him to be the Cubs coach forever however if he does wish to move on then he'd be a great hire for any school's football program. He did apply at Hunters Lane but did not get any looks. I wonder if WCHS will take a look at a guy outside of the Metro system.

experience not wanted, especially if it is a good one, winning coaches for the most part should not apply, must teach atleast 6 classes and if you give up your planning to teach an extra preparation your odds go way up, individual must be willing to work alone, totally alone and must be experienced in fund raising and to stop using the term football game and instead insert the word "activity" as in last night we played another team in an activity, any funds you do raise are quickly moved to the general fund and spent on half-time dancers outfits, also another activity except with less people in the group, not to be mixed up with the word team, key words are as follows:

activity= football

group = teams

coach =fundraiser and lone wolf

gate money = general funds deposit to cover for every other sport that does not make enough to cover the cost of the referees required to cover their game

imagine albert einstein meets bear bryant meets tony robinson meets socialism and you have a heck of a candidate

key: never think about in the big picture you have a sport that teaches team work and discipline to a group of young men who make up the top ten percentage of testorone people in the school, add in that the role models coaching them may be the only positived male influence in their lives

there have been super role models that have coached in metro and most now are retired, we are very fortunate that they took the time and years to influence all the thousands of young men who teach, police and run our government and serve as dads and leaders

guys like jerry pique, wes elrod, buddy brown, terry anderson, coach campbell, coach gore, bubba spears and many others...to you all that have and still do thanks for everything you did for nashville football and have made such a difference in so many peoples lives

i am sorry about my spelling mistakes and evey other grammar fact that i have overlooked, i unfortunately did not have a metro education and instead just focus on my various activities

How much pressure is put on the new coach to win? Does the school body support the program?

With CPA being out of the district they are now just playing against the other Metro/Nashville Public Schools for the next 4 years. Lipscomb is also still in the district but outside of that it's Whites Creek, Pearl-Cohn, Stratford, Maplewood, and East Nashville. I am sure that both Hunters Lane and Glencliff were probably retained from the previous schedule as well. I saw that CPA is still on the schedule as a "non district" game. It's a schedule where you play 7-8 other Metro/Nashville Schools. If you win 5 of those games then you have a great shot at getting to the playoffs.

Let's make this multiple choice.

A. Anthony Law - possible return to place of previous success? went to semis last season at WC

B. Bobby Baskin - good coach, hard-worker, could win with WC talent

C. Richard Campbell - Has won everywhere he's been, does he want to be a head coach again?

D. Dennis Moreno - deserves another chance as head coach, would bring much needed discipline and work ethic

E. Ralph Thompson - turned Maplewood around, could he do the same for WC?

Others? Opinions...

The person for the job is the offensive coordinator for a team that just went 12-1, reached the state quarterfinals, scored 579 points (44.5 points per game), and rushed for more than 5,000 yards (including 3 different backs with over 1,400 yards rushing). This person also played football at the college level and played at a high level as well with 36 consecutive starts from 2001-2003.

Michael Jackson-Cheatham County Central High school?

A very good football coach with an outstanding resume. He's been an Athletic Director for 2 years now and most of the school's sports teams (football, basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball) have improved tremendously during that period of time. As an Offensive Coordinator for the Cubs Football Coaching Staff he's also done a great job. I would venture to say that outside of CAK, who has won the state championship the last two years, no team in Class 3A has averaged more offensive production per game than has Cheatham County. For 8 years he has coached under Cody Finley (who everyone knows that I consider to be one of the better and most underrated high school football coaches in the middle Tennessee area). In college, as has been mentioned, he started every game for three consecutive seasons at UT-Martin. He is a coach who would demand a lot from the players at Whites Creek and also a person that I believe could (and would) bring the Cobras Football Program back to glory.
