clevelandblueraiderfan
Cleveland only lost 4 individual matches, not including the 5 forfeits against Heritage, the whole tournament. Never tested in any round, while posting one of the, if not the, most lopsided final scores in a Tssaa dual championship. Truly amazing, truly dominant. Go Raiders! russian
Congrats to Cleveland for winning the state duals!?you are a very talented team and I hope y'all continue to do well. And congrats to WC , who for only the second time in school history competed in the state duals and secured the second spot in the state! Thanks Cleveland for helping make WC 's program better! Good luck to all in the individuals! Stay healthy
RedRobin
Ok lots of far there but if those 3 would not have screwed their teammates 100% chance wc gets beat. And they are about to see Chattanooga wrestling up close when Cleveland beats them by 20 plus unless they forfeit out. Sucks for Soddy and all their hard work this year but at least we know who the best team in the state is. Oh - you mean CBHS Congrats to Wilson Central for making the finals. clevelandblueraiderfan
Oh - you mean CBHS Congrats to Wilson Central for making the finals. I'm sure Cleveland and CBHS would love to wrestle each other right now, and I know all of us fans would love to watch.
mawandpaw
You all brought it on yourself by crowing about how good you are. You just beat a Soddy team that kicked off three wrestlers and two of them were among their best. Not only that but they lost another stud starter a couple of weeks ago. This match would have been a 25 point victory. That being said you have came a long way and your kids should be proud. You haven't wrestled cbhs, father Ryan, Baylor, Cleveland or a full strength Soddy team so no, you still haven't wrestled the best but you are about to. Cleveland, please don't call the dogs off! Wilson Central, follow my old football coaches advice and try to act like you have won before even if you haven't. Maybe now that you have arrived you can schedule some of these teams. Remember while you are happy soddys kids are hurting due to no fault of their own so show a little class. what do you mean by "show a little class?" this makes no since whatsoeverrrrr1
mawandpaw
Don't act like you're helping! This comment is the problem! Theyre in the finals and Soddys done. Just shut up and take the friggen loss I BELIEVE WILSON CENTRAL LOST THOSE 3 MATCHES ANYWAY SO WHAT DIFFERENCE WOULD THAT HAD MADE IN THE FINAL SCORE
ScottOsters
How did it ever come about that there are actually FOUR state tournaments? Two for public schools and two for private schools based on size. Ok fine. But a state tournament with only seven teams? That's what this year's Division II was. And a Division II "invitational" ? Wow. The fact that ANY team, not just this year's Wilson Central squad, can get to a state championship match and look like an inferior opponent is an indictment of the tournament, not a team. The fact that a team could conceivably draw a bye, win two matches and be declared a state champion is a dilution of the concept of state champion (possible in both DII tourneys). Perhaps it is not reasonable to have a single state champion in Tennessee as is the case in many states, but what wrestling fan wouldn't love to have seen a Christian Brothers vs. Cleveland match this year? Or a Father Ryan vs. Wilson Central match? Wrestling in Tennessee is getting stronger year by year, and as it grows, there are certainly going to be growing pains. We need a better state tournament, with better lighting, better promotion and better administration. Not a criticism but an observation. Tennessee Wrestling can be special. We have dedicated coaches and wrestlers. They deserve a state tournament worthy of their season-long efforts.
Sommers
Thx to all those who have made everything possible for what we do have. Enough room for 8 mats and all the scoreboards and no more carry tournaments As far as officiating, there were seasoned officials there,,, Mara, Williams, Parker,Elsea and others are working to develop more talent similar to those who did not get that call for duals, but likely did for individuals As far as a California style true state championship, I spoke with Reeves and supports it 100% for wrestling, but our administrators are 0% due to the greater conflict with other sports. Even the idea of lumping all into the individuals with a top eight and team points separated by divisions won't fly due to this recruiting & scholarship controversy Again, at least we are seeing more head to head. The Bro's if they finish as expected... appears headed to a first time year-end #1 (overall) based on the obvious I e., gp west and Cleveland duals. The future of TN wrestling looks bright and huge talent pools growing now in several counties! Edited February 3, 2013 by Sommers
