footsolja
Here in Memphis it's Frayser vs. Trezevent, Kirby vs. Overton, Melrose vs. East, and Manassas vs. Westside.
hobbit87
That's too far away for me to really care about. Sounds good though.
VitaVol
It's Alcoa-Maryville. About 10 state titles between them, an absolute county war, has been for decades. It's got to be #1 just because of the length of the rivalry and the amount of tradition that each school has...
pchitman
The best rivalries are: Polk County-Copper Basin This is one of the best because these two teams hate each other. Heck the two sides of the county hate each other. Always is a good game even when one of the teams is having a bad year. McMinn County-McMinn Central Another cross county matchup that is real intense. County always has the upper hand but Central always plays hard. Coach Williams from Central is a real good guy too, and the only good coach in his family. Ask anyone from Polk County and they'll tell ya that the other Coach Williams couldn't have coache little league let alone high school. Bradley-Cleveland This is about as good as it gets. Intense, huge crowd support from both sides, and good old fashioned hatred.
Blue21SallyAt7
Alcoa-Maryville. 12 State Championships between the 2 (MHS-7, AHS 5). Game cannot be put into words unless you are a part of it or have witnessed a game. If each team went 1-9 every year, they would be more proud to have that win against either school than any win in the books!
goob5804
the hype behind the alcoa maryville game is the greatest part about it. there is always a packed stadium and it is loud until the final whistle blows. people who only come to one game a year will make it to the maryville alcoa game that is why it is so great. BriC
I'd have to agree that it's Maryville-Alcoa. Adults and Students from that area that have no ties to either school go to that game. I know alotta kids from my school go to it every year. Sequatchie
If cross-county rivals is what you want the top 2 are Maryville-Alcoa and Marion County-South Pittsburg Edited June 29, 2003 by Sequatchie
coachcornbread
If cross-county rivals is what you want the top 2 are Maryville-Alcoa and Marion County-South Pittsburg I think that you are right, but you can't forget Lenior City/Loudon or Polk County/Copper Basin.
