CPA's Jalen Lindsey leaving CPA

So he is widely considered as a top 20 prospect in his class in the country but the elite programs are not interested in him????

I have watched him 5 years, and IMO, he is not a Top 20 prospect, but what do I know? He is a very good player, but I saw Pothyress play 2 years ago at CPA and he was truly a Top 20 prospect and so much better than Lindsey. When Lindsey was 8th grader, the doctors projected he would be 6'11" by senior year. He is not really growing (he may yet) and he still has a thin frame. He does jump very well and is very athletic. He will have to be a 3 at his size and frame and I don't know if his game yet is suited for that.

Again, he is still young and college can take an athletic player and really develop them.

Also, remember Ky., N.C., Duke, Kansas don't recruit, they select, and they do it based on need.

So if they only select based on need, what difference does it make where he plays H.S. ball?

I'm not defending his (and his family's decision), but I do defend their right to do what they think is best. It is not my (or your) role to decide the kid's future, plus we don't have all the facts. Best wishes to him.

Definitely agree. When I watched Poythress that night I said to myself that's an NBA player. I've never said that about Lindsey despite his obvious athleticism and his accolades. A college coach I know told me that Blackwell is the better college prospect. I'll be interested in following all of their careers since I've been able to watch them at the high school level.

Your point is taken. I'm not looking to decide anything. I am just making conversation on an interesting topic.

I agree and was not putting down your comments. A couple of things are interesing about Lindsey. 1.He seems to play better against better competition so maybe college will bring out the best in him.

2. He doesn't play well with his back to the basket which he had to do a lot at CPA. He is not a post player, so when he ends up playing the correct position, he will get much better.

One distinct advantage of his going to HP (and it has been hinted at already in this thread) is that he will be in an everyday atmosphere that is much more similar to a D1 program. That's not a knock on CPA -- that's a knock on the TSSAA. The constraints placed upon all TSSAA sports are a bit ridiculous, and Lindsey's August-November months in West Virginia will not be limited as they would be in Tennessee. He is now in the cauldron, and the only way for him to continue to improve is to be forced to battle every single day. He'll be getting that, and I think he will be considerably better as a player at this time next year.

Jalen leaving. No problem. Recruit an out of state player (Marcus Graves). I think Maddux is too insecure to play with the hand he's been dealt (like other coaches in Division 1).

. I love it - more hate - I can't wait until the CPA haters see Graves - he is a freak athlete - should be another fun year for the Lions fans

Hate? Nah. Life's too short for that. There are pages and pages of other posts covering that topic. Some haters are on the money - some miss the mark. But, I do call em like I see em. You are correct about Graves though. He's a good player.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
