8-AA 2013-2014

The season is just around the corner everyone! Let's hear your opinions.

 

My picks:

 

 

1. LA-way too talented.

2. Cannon-the junior group that's going to be getting more playing time is pretty good, i've heard, and theyve been impressing people at camps.

3-5. Macon/Smith/Central-We know that Macon ( someone at the state tourney made the remark that the younger girls who didn't play as much were going to be even better than group of seniors but who knows. They will be unproven) and Smith are good, but Central is very very good too, losing the FIRST player in program history to graduation last season, and i just don;t think that all the talent in the Buro will reside in AAA schools. They will shock some people.

 

Honestly the first 5 are way to hard to call.

6. Gonna pick a shocker here; DC. They looked very good in camps this summer (camps, i know blah blah) with agressive D and young players stepping up and playing well.

7-8. Upperman still looked down from the few games i saw them play. I don't know if Hull can carry the scoring load for this team, and they had no size at all from what i saw. Coach McWilliams will have them competeing though. All i know about York is that they lost many seniors, including the best player on O and D in Wright and lost two promising young players to C-Range.

 

I won't be surprised if i'm WAY off, because i do look for this year to be the most balanced, top to bottom, that 8-AA has seen in several years. Wow, sitting down to think it out, i was really afraid to make any solid picks because the simple fact is that there aren't any doormats in 8-AA anymore. Everyone can compete.

 

On a side note: apparently SOMETHING has happened at LA. Don't care WHAT it is or WHO it is, but will it affect their ability to compete this season? I think that question may be answered without getting to much started. And if it can't, then my apologies.

How much does the Lady Tigers have returning?

Loren Cripps(JR), Ashley Barnes(SR), Ashli Chew(SOPH), and Paige Winningham(SR) all played significant minutes last season. Two other sophomores in Jailyn Bolding and Morgan Pedigo played a lot over the summer. There's also Dani Meadows(SOPH) coming off of a knee injury. (I'm sure im still missing some, and i apologize.) This team is aggressive on D, is fast, and can shoot.

 

In any other district, this group would easily be top 3. But, it IS 8-AA. I look for them to pull some upsets though.

 

EDIT: I knew I forgot two others; Rayanna Baker(JR) and Makenzie Poteete(SR).

Arguably the best team that the girls have had since going to Region Semis in 2010.

 

And this is still playing with several young players.

Seems like Upperman has fallen off just a little by your predictions. Wasn't all that along ago when they was one of the better teams in AA year in and year out. Was always shocked with all the deep runs in the tournament that they never came away with gold.

They weren't too impressive with what I saw. They won't stay at the bottom though. She's a great coach.

Lots of excitement around the Lady TIger program. Maybe they can creep up on the top teams this season.

Answer: no. However, I think it's worth caring about.

I was meaning I didn't care as far as wanting to seem nosey. Not here to pry in personal lives of high schoolers. Sorry if it was taken out of context. Good to see you returning to the basketball boards some, however.

I can't wait for the season to get underway....going to be a stacked 8-AA this year IMO.
