Once again the Times Free Press is lazy about gaining information at the Summit tournament this weekend . Mt. Juliet won 2 games Friday night beating Sequoyah 11-0 and Sale Creek 10-0 before letting the freshman team play Farragut on Saturday morning. I was very impressed with the Mt. Juliet (varsity) pitcher and hitters. I would have been surprised if any of the teams in this tournament could have beat their (varsity) team . It would have been nice to see a Baylor vs Mt. Juliet or Soddy Daisy vs Mt. Juliet game before the tournament got rained out.

Not sure where they had their heads this weekend considering I saw several of their reporters running around and all the final scores were clearly marked on the pool play brackets.

Interesting article about the success that young pitchers in this area have enjoyed in the TFP today. Also interesting is that two of the better teams in this area, Soddy Daisy and Walker Valley, have held out their stats to this point in the season.

I may have missed her in the list but I believe Grundy's leading pitcher so far is just a freshman, and is pretty good too. Three-team race in their district with Signal well behind, Notre Dame playing non district and CCS Not fielding a team.

Soddy does not appear to the powerhouse they once were.  It seems the up and coming players are looking for alternatives.

Good win for East Hamilton! Will definitely by an exciting race down the stretch in 5-AAA. If Ooltewah gets hot at the right time, it could be the most competitive 5-AAA tournament we have ever seen.

Whitwell over Sale Creek in the district. Not this game necessarily but for the season SC has surprised me.

Not the best Whitwell has played but we will take it...looking forward to Fridays match up with South Pittsburg.

South Pittsburg Lady Pirates are 10-0. Should be a great game Friday with Whitwell.

Marion 2-0 over Sequatchie today. A lot better than last week's 17-3 embarrassment though still a loss. Good effort by one of Seq's freshmen pitchers.
