New players at CPA

WACG stands for We All Can Go.  Somehow a lot of their talent is relocating to middle Tennessee.  They have had 2 transfers into BA, and now Tyger into CPA all within the past year.  Don't know who is funding this train, but the rich keep getting richer.

Well, we all know CPA isn't funding it. They don't recruit. (insert eye roll here)  Everyone but the blind hero worshippers can see what is going on the basketball team there.

Latest tweet from Coach Maddux- confirms that Campbell has been named #1 player (not just point guard) in the Class of 2019 by Future150 - only problem with their listing is that it shows his location as Cedar Rapids, Iowa- oops- that was last year!!!!!!  Funniest response to the tweet is from some guy who tweeted Coach Maddux and said "you just keep developing stars don't you?"- I don't think even Coach Maddux can take credit for developing Campbell's star- think that had already happened.

LOL if you think that CPA is going out to Iowa to recruit kids.

Of course we don't think CPA is going to Iowa to recruit. The kid had offers to play at several schools in Nashville, but family chose CPA for their Christian mission, which was much more important to them than basketball. God works in such mysterious ways, HE even provided a fellow teammate and minister's home for him to live in, while HE works out the rest of the details...

This kid is a 8th grader. He is a non factor for 2 years.

They're not bringing these kids in as 8th and 9th graders to be non-factors! The only non-factors are the kids that grew up going to school there from the start! I wonder how all of those supporters of the program feel when their kids get passed over for the next big transfer?

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why this is allowed to go on at CPA.  He can't be bothered with the kids who are already there. They aren't good enough. Maddux is not there to be a high school coach, or develop his teams from the students in his school. Basketball is a completely different sport from all the others there.  He is there to build his own basketball academy.

CPA just enables him to do so, by allowing him to enroll whoever he wants into the MS, whenever it's convenient, unlike the other kids who go through a process that can take months.  They give him an open gym for his elite/select leagues, rather than ask him to offer development for current students. Parents who hope their own kids are going to be his "next big thing" willingly house these players, pay their tuition, give their parents jobs, and take the good coach on vacations. It's unbelievable. It's a pattern, and if TC isn't enough proof, people are blind.

By laws of TSSAA state that their mission is (in part) to provide rules that ensure a level playing field in athletics...to place CPA in the same division as public schools is laughable with their current track record of "acquiring" players. Before you supporters use the "Jackson South Side beat them" argument, SS has risen through the toughest district in Tn. for basketball, and competition coupled with a rare compliment of players formed a great team (as it should be). When this coming season is finished, SS will be good but not great for some time to come (also as it should be), just as Bolivar, Liberty, Haywood, ect...have risen and fallen with available talent. Rudesill (Bolivar) is probably the best coach in Tennessee, his record is remarkable even while competing in the old 14AA against routinely two or three of the top teams in state just to advance to regionals...this past season was not good for Bolivar, but do you think that Rudesill forgot how to coach?

Talent comes and goes in cycles, excepting the fact that you have all middle Tn., and apparently all the continental US. to pull players from. Maddux should be the poster child for splitting public and private schools, as he exemplifies the "pushing the rules to the maximum" example. Most private supporters not in favor of the split regularly use the "we don't do this or that at ___________", and they're right, most privates don't expend every resource available to build a team...then there's CPA to illuminate just how big an advantage is built into TSSAA's rules if the privates truly take advantage of them. Do the right thing and split publics and privates now.
