great thread, thanks for the rivalry history.

wingman when did you graduate? I used to live in Parksville, my dad was the Ocoee district ranger (long long long time ago). My next door neighbor (well there were only about 5 houses in Parksville) was David Dupree who was a really good back for PC & ended up playing at TTU.

I think Polk will be good enough to be 6-4 and make it to the Playoffs for another season.

BigDave,

No doubt Derrick Davis has done some great things during his tenure at Polk County. Great coach, gets the most out of his kid with a simple system that just works. Their out of district schedule includes:

Toughest schedule: Polk County's nondistrict road schedule consists of trips to Class 6A teams Bradley Central and Walker Valley and to Notre Dame, the team that eliminated the Wildcats from the Class 4A state playoffs last season. The nondistrict home schedule features a game with 2013 Class 1A state runner-up South Pittsburg and dates also with Class 4A playoff teams Central and East Ridge

Pretty daunting. Never know cause that is why you play the game.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
