Loudon @ William Blount

All I have got to say is I'm going to remember this when all of your teams lose or have a rough year.

You wouldn't get such repercussions such as this if you would just be realistic on your expectations for your team. I read all week long about how this was going to be a blowout. On what were you gauging that by? A 2-8 year? Loudon's staff is much better than WB's. They improved over the year.

I haven't been on here long, but everyone of them minus a few have been saying this game was going to be a blowout. You don't say things like that when your team went 2-8 the yr before. Just not using your head.

um we beat them 40-7 last year and have looked pretty good in the scrimmages (with the exception of soddy) maybe you can understand why some of us thought that. I think even the most realistic fan would have faith that their defense could stop a team when the same guy is getting the ball every single play. It was ridiculous. Edited by Governors91

Coaching makes all the difference. Maryville wins state perennially without the star athletes that other teams have.

That is just something I don't believe. Yes, they have great coaching, but they also have very good athletes. Just because they don't have SEC guys all over the field doesn't mean they don't have great players. Maryville players are great HIGH SCHOOL players, and when you add that with the great coaching you get 15 state titles. As Bear Bryant sais I am only as good as the players I have playing for me. I just giggle when people say Maryville doesn't have good athletes. It's absurd to think that.

    • I’m betting the house on the Indians. Pickett and Co will be the only team to challenge the Indians in the East. Huntingdon can in the West. I think Brooks goes 15-0 and has the first perfect season and state championship in ER history.
    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
    • Maybe OR will be, but Farragut, nah, I don’t think anybody realizes how much of a bad situation that program is in currently. I’m sure they will build out of it, but the next 3 to 4 years are going to be a long climb up.
    • Thats one of the problems of having an 8-team region. A team could make it in any other region, but the numbers work against them in this one.
