Hey, I do have a question for the Alcoa faithful. I've heard several of you say that if the reclass comes out next year and you guys are in 2A then that's where you will play just because that is what the rules say. I don't have a dog in this hunt at all and am just asking a serious question here. In looking at the other prospective 2A schools and considering the state of the Alcoa program I honestly wonder why you would even consider playing 2A. It would seem that the fans would even demand that there be more entertaining matchups otherwise attendance might suffer. No Troll here, just wondering what your thoughts are on the subject.

every prgram should want to gorw bigger and getter, to me thi is a step back

The other sports at Alcoa High School will have a voice in what classification we play in, so it's not just our football wants. I honestly think attendance will stay about the same either way. Besides, playing in 2A will renew some of our old rivalries dating back to before the '09 realignment. It's a win-win really.

Wrong....football is a completely different animal. You can move up in football & it will not affect the other spots because there will be 6 classes & only 3 in all other sports. Just like it was back before the Z plan.

Also, you mention renewing the old rivalries? Yes everyone will really look forward to those HUGE RIVALS like Oliver Springs & Wartburg LMAO. CAK will now be 3a so that rivalry won't be in 2a like it was before the Z plan. Loudon may not even be in that region.

So honestly with all due respect to one of the best programs in the state...why wouldn't Alcoa at least want to play in 3a? Still would blow out most teams & win state, but there would be a little more competition.

This is the problem that TSSAA has created by having too many state titles for the size of our state. It is watered down & teams like Alcoa & Fulton among others would rather play in different classes than each other so that they can all get state championship rings. If they were all in the same class we could have some GREAT matchups & find out who the true state champion is. Instead we have to watch 40-60 point wins in state championship games.

3 classes would be plenty, then Alcoa & Fulton among others would be stuck together in Double A.

I would like to land right in the middle of Signal's nest for about a decade!

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
