crimsontide43
Now everyone is jumping off the Harp bandwagon. He was run off in Kentucky but no one wants to talk about that. He must be spending too much time with the grandkids. That was the reason he gave to come to Lebanon.
GWAVE1
I think he leaves after this year and is an assistant somewhere next year. Lebanon has nice facilities and does have good athletes, they just have to get them out of the hallways. There is no reason Lebanon could not be competitive. MJGOLDENBEARS
Once again I will say this, Lebanon did not have a bad Freshman team. I know that doesn't answer, nor solve many of their ongoing issues, but it does bring just a glimmer of hope for the next few years. Who runs off a coach that wins 7 state championships?
runninblind
It takes the whole community to get involved ! First off it starts with the parents who need to get their children involved in sports early like in a youth football program. Find Volunteers to donate spare time to make a difference.TYFA is good organization to look into ! Website www.tyfa.org
Otter
Think about this....................... A coach really has only (1) major controlling factor for players = PLAYING TIME A successful athlete will have character & work ethic (most of the time) If a coach has plenty of capable players .............playing time is the controller IF he does not let the "craphead' player get away with bad behavior..........good coaches eventually learn this rule! If a coach has a limited number of capable players.........then the player character & work ethic must prevail to be a winner..........the playing time control is now limited............ simply because he MUST play the capable players to have a chance to win...........if they have poor character / bad work ethic; then he is between the devil & the witch. If a player of poor character / bad work ethic KNOWS he will not be benched............How you going to motivate him??? Need some of you "experts" to help me out here!!! Now also throw in the "enabling" behavior of the parents of these so-called wonderful athletes, and you have a Perfect Storm.............that is even enhanced further by the other "experts" (have all the answers) in the stands and press box (*note. this is usually a former player / alunmi with delusions of grandur of his former football playing ability) I would say that Mr Harp's problem with keeping the Lebanon Titanic afloat is somewhere in this area................... Couple of other things 1.) Urban Legend - Athletes are roaming the halls -- not really!!! Most coaches will get the players out; there might be a very few...............if a good athlete does not want to be there......see character and work ethic (above) 2) Lebanon's Pristine facilities - Not really!!! Place was designed by a MORON.......everything is backwards + very low stands + too many dang fences. Looks good from afar..........but it was not money well-spent I will finish with this............... An old coach once told me "If I know I am going to lose.............I am going to lose with the kids; that try to do what I say..................the crapheads are going to be standing by me, or they can leave" if you adopt this..............remember PLAYING TIME is your only real control; then you best have complete backing of the school admin.............. smashmouth11
It will be interesting to see what the out come will be with Harp. Because Lebanon will finish 0-10. I've heard a name that some people want if Harp does leave(not saying he will)

Facilities are new and not that bad, fences or not. The risers are going to be installed and the view will be better. I have talked to a few and they tell me there are some boys walking the halls that would make some decent ball players. Sorry not an "urban legend". However getting them to have the mindset and the want too may be difficult. Not my problem. With Lebanon moving to the all trophy league, I could care less. TitansRTerrible
It is never easy to execute a complete U-Turn, and no individual can do it on his/her own. In 5A & 6A it takes a complete "program" to compete. It is also hard for a struggling program to find "easy" wins in Sumner County. 1 D-1 RB cant do it all! He needs 40 other players... 1 decent Head Coach can't do it all! He needs 5-6 other solid coaches... All personal opinions aside: I think LHS has the size to find 50-60 Athletes. I think LHS has pristine facilities to attract & facilitate kids throughout their four years in High School. I think the community of Lebanon has the ability to support (emotionally & financially) a program. I believe the potential is there... somewhere Not when the best football players are plucked from junior high by Friendship Christian.... Alot of football talent at Friendship that should be playing at Lebanon.
