Guys this is the same guy that said the Veer was esy to defend and that NCS should have no problem stopping it. All you have to do is play disciplined defense and that's it. Well that's not it. It is a start but there is so much more. I know it is a very simple offense that's why it works so well. There are many different variations. One being the very popular Read Option that is run by many college teams today. If it so easy to stop then why is it so effective? I know, because it is 1A football. Wrong again. We have played 4A schools 2A and 3A schools. Guess what? It's not easy to stop at any level when run correctly. Monkey Wrench you should not be so negative when talking about high school players. It may be as you say a reality but as I have just stated, you were wrong about the veer so I will say that you are wrong about your assement of what happens to 1A D1 colloege recruits. I know a guy that I played against in high school who went to a D1 school and played in the NFL. He played defensive tackle amd I was a tight end on his side of the ball. I had to block down on him at time or two during that game, Ugh! His name is Greg Ross. He played for the Miami Dolphins and is now an assistant coach at Lake County where he played in high school.

Whatever you say. Trying to say veer and modern day read option are the same is like comparing a model T to a bugatti. They both have motors and wheels, but they are quite different. Discipled defense IS all it takes being teams are evenly matched. But if you are just flat out better than someone it doesn't matter what you run.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
