Do the kids that went to that school go to Heritage now?

Maryville is 220-14 with 10 state championships, 3 state runner-ups, 1 state semifinal appearance, and 1 state quarterfinal appearance in nearly 16 years under George Quarles (1999-2014).  There is no other football program nationwide that can rival that run.

If you include the last two seasons (1997-1998) prior to the 'Quarles Era' to that list Maryville's record shoots to 248-16 with 11 state championships, 4 state runner-ups, 1 state semifinal appearance, and 1 state quarterfinal appearance in nearly 18 years (1997-2014).

Those stats say all you need to know about what a football giant Blount County is nationwide.  When you factor in Alcoa's run of dominance since 2003 those numbers become incredibly scary.

Porter,Everett,Townsend and Walland closed to make up Heritage High School. Lanier and Friendsville closed to make up William Blount.

That's interesting to me.. Heritage had more schools feed into it but William Blount is a much bigger school in terms of enrollment. How big were friendsville and Lanier?

Porter eventually fed into Heritage, but it didn't close till two years after Heritage opened. When they opened WB they closed Porter, Lanier and Friendsville. The Porter kids then went to HHS. The FHS and LHS kids went to WB. The kids who had gone to Fairview but were at Heritage were allowed to transfer to WB without penalty. This is where the busses would take them from their house. HHS opened in '77 and WB in '79.
