we shall see. Won't have the records Marion will have in 2a, but team to team will be as good or better. More. Depth and higher numbers is big as you go up in class. York Ins and Dekalb Co will dress 60-65, Upperman over 90. Smith Co is a traditional power team but has had over 90 playing in the past on many occasions. http://nashville.suntimes.com/vanderbilt-university/7/118/33620/2017-qb-jennings-checks-out-vanderbilt

We are probably a 7-3 or 8-2 team next season. Playing bigger schools this year with a new district. We lose a couple of very good players but return maybe 17 starters. We had between 60-65 players this year. With 28 8th graders coming up and losing only maybe 6 or 7 seniors our numbers should be in the high 70's. Of course with attrition all those 8th graders won't stay out. Coach Ross (first year coach as well) is really big on not playing iron man football. We had a few who did this year just because they were too good to take off the field. Sorry to GC fans for hijacking your board. Just setting the record straight.

i agree, all 4 teams were in rebuild mode. I see strong returns from all 4 this year.

I'm not sure DC will be particularly "strong", but good enough to win 6-8 games and go to the playoffs. On paper Upperman looks like they should be the early favorites. I believe DC, York, and Smith County will fight it out for the 2-4 spots. Trying to predict the standings at this point in time would just be a guess by anybody. Every team has question marks. I think Grundy and Cannon County will fight it out for last place though. DC plays at York, at Upperman, and at Sequatchie. I was hoping to host 2 out of York, Upperman, and Smith.

7-3 seems about right maybe 8-2. I cant figure out dekalb this year....seem to be down in football, basketball, and now even basball. Is their not much talent around Jennings? Edited by UpperCumberlandMan

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
