Sommers, a grand championship is a great idea and it is something that I think would be profitable for TSSAA which means it actually has a chance of being put together. As for the format, I would suggest taking the top four finalist from all 3 divisions, so it's the top 12 kids in the state and all of the state champs would get a first round bye.

106- Hicks (Bradley Central) defeated Simpson earlier this year

113- Eason (Father Ryan) beat Elkin 10-4 Elkin defeated Navarro by 4

120- Mullin (Notre Dame) defeated Chalifoux by 4 at Bradley invitational

126- Fuller (Bradley Central) I told you he would win it...

132- Debain (Cleveland) No question here.

138- Taylor (Cleveland) Much more impressive than an Overtime win over Dendy who was losing in the semi finals prior to pinning.

145- Wesnofske  (Father Ryan) defeated Mullin at Bradly Invitational

152- Binns (Wilson Central) Weakest weight class Ive ever seen in my 38 years in the sport.

160- Sutherland (Baylor) Would work Garrison and take this one with ease.

182- Soloman (Maryville) He just doesnt lose.

195- Russel (Clarksville) Looked very impressive.

106: Hicks & Simpson would be a war. Hicks won early in the season when Simpson received a concussion early in the 1st period of the match but continued to wrestle not knowing where he was.

113: If he is ready to go Eason would be hard to beat.

120: Chalifoux due to how much he improved as the season progressed. The tough FR schedule helped him.

126: Simpson as he is the most improved wrestler I have seen in a long time. Good in 3 positions.

132: Debain would be favored but never count out a healthy Eli King

138: Murphy just knows how to win

145: Wesnofske defeated Mullin so you go with Wesnofske in a close match

152: Binns is favored but never ever count out a Gordon Connell coached wrestler

160: Sutherland is a hammer

170: Kennedy would take this one but he would have to work

182: Solomon finds a way to win in Tennessee.

195: Parker would make a darn tough 197 in college but he will play football

220: Truly a tossup with both wrestlers splitting this year

285: Boykin is too strong & athletic for an injured Evans

Ill base this off head to head and common opponents. Sometimes speculating on common opponents is not accurate due to contrasting styles but if there are multiple common opponents you can get a better picture. Ive gone back on track based on the last couple of seasons.

106- Hicks... But this would be  a great match.. Hicks has an early season win here but Simpson has vastly improved over the season.

113- Navaro... But this would be another great match. he has a 1 pt victory early in the season but had a loss to Elkins by 4 and Eason beat Elkins in the finals. Eason has improved like the rest of Father Ryan probably due to level of opponents.

120- Mullin has the head to head victory and that has to be respected but Chalifoux has been battle tested all year in very tough matches. If I was forced to pick a winner I would go with Chalifoux with the level of competition hes faced I think he can win the tougher matches.

126- Most would go with Fuller here but I think Simpson would win it. I couldn't find a head to head but Simpsons victories over common opponents was more convincing.

132- You have to go with Debien here but.. I think King would give him a better match than most realize. I would like to see Debien face some tougher competition to see how he stacks up . The only tough kid we have seen him face has been Oliver and Oliver dominated in those wins if Im not mistaken.

138- Everyone goes with Murphy here but I think Ezra Taylor would give him a close match and possibly win. Murphy has had close matches and 1 loss to King and an overtime win to Dendy. Stronger kids are able to counter his technique and Ezra would be by far the strongest and most explosive kid hes faced.

145- Wesnofske- has head to head victory and has faced much tougher competition but Mullin would give him a good match.

152- Not sure about head to head here . I don't think this weight was that weak as some suggested. Patton and runner up Morrice ( who most would hands down say is better out of DII) were at 160 earlier in the year. The 152 runner up from Brentwood was a 1 loss Champion last year with the only loss being to Sutherland. Patton has a punchers chance but I would go with Binns.

160- Sutherland- Couldn't find a head to head but common opponents aren't even close. Garrison had an overtime win over Pattton ( tied at 9) and Sutherland has had him about 50-0 before he has pinned him and teched him the last 2 years. Also many close wins by Garrison over kids Sutherland has beaten badly usually by pin or tech.

170- Kennedy- Kennedy doesn't get the credit he deserves and that's mostly due to lack of quality opponents but he does well on the national level and always has. Would like to see the match with him and Seagraves to give us a better perspective on both of them.

182- Soloman- very weak weight across the board this year.  would like to see a Soloman vs Kennedy and Seagraves match. Soloman isn't a very big 182 at all, he probably just doesn't cut any weight because he doesn't have to. I watched him and Sutherland last year at a practice at Utc and they went toe to toe from what I saw.

195- Parker hands down

220- Filbey or Stacey.. Split during season.. toss up

Hwt- Evans but Boykin has a punchers chance with his throws

106-Hicks against Simpson in a war. Watch out for Simp in the future;

113- Navarro only on experience. Eason had him this year but thrown to his back with 10 seconds left;

120-Mullins- Decisive win against FR at Bradley;

126-Fuller in a 1 pointer against Simpson. Be different if Simpson didn't play baseball all year;

132-Debien. King suffered too many injuires, just 15 years old;

138-Taylor- too good an athlete;

145-Russo;

152-Binns- More experienced and older;

160-Sutherland- so athletic;

170-Kennedy. Can compete nationally;

182-Soloman- Euverard has athletic ability to be a national champion but emphasizes football.

195-Parker and Russell are even. Give it to both of them;

220- Stacy

285-Evans
