Oledad
Did Rutherford County Administrators really think this thru!! Who will oversee this fiasco! Start with this. Coaches supposedly can't have contact with their team. Come on man! Does anyone really believe this will happen? Is Riverdales coach going to move offices? (Right beside girls locker room). He teaches PE in gym, so he will be around girls team everyday. So, does flight need to find a new home or will he still be involved with that right there in his gym, right where all his players will be practicing. This is a sham! Will never work. Gerry Bertier
He can still have contact with the girls on the team during the school day. If they are in his class, it is not like he can ignore him. He can't be at practices, camps, team events, booster club meetings and such. I am pretty sure it is going to be easy to regulate because all eyes will be on that program next year. He steps out of place and he isn't coming back. I promise you that there are enough people upset at him that if he tries to blurry the lines he will be turned in. Kudos to Rutherford Co. for doing the right thing. Trust me, nothing will happen if he's turned in. They had an out of zone player turned in and nothing happened. Ask Stewarts Cr. H.S. and Blackman Middle what happened when they (self reported!!) had out of zone players.

That was before they embarrassed the entire state of Tennessee and the TSSAA by getting on ESPN, USA Today, LA Times, ect. They will be under a microscope and they will be on the thinnest sheet of ice. They won't even be able to pee with the seat down without repercussions I bet. I personally think the Riverdale coach will end up resigning his position as Head Basketball Coach over this situation. Not sure by him staying around will be the best situation for that program. I bet the two coaches involved wish they could go back and hit the reset button before that consolation game begin. This situation blew up big time on these two schools. I still can believe they did this and made it so obvious what they were doing. I guess the coaches felt they were above the game, boy did they get fooled. ScottR77
Why stick around when he could get another job elsewhere? As successful as he's been, surely someone will pick him up.
gwh
Why stick around when he could get another job elsewhere? As successful as he's been, surely someone will pick him up. I will say this, if he stays he will come back stronger and Riverdale will hold the gold ball at the end of the 16'-17' season. That is assuming that everyone else stays in place. There was a mistake made but in the end he will be defined on how he deals with everything from here going forward. Everyone makes mistakes and decisions they wish they wouldn't have made. Some people's bad decisions just get blown up for the world to see.

Don't know if you've followed the whole story, but I'm pretty sure the Smyrna coach won't be having any contact with them...lol.

And let's not forget the fact that the RCS director basically just told the whole world that Tom Nolan is a weak administrator, and he has to handle his discipline for him. Two game suspension, eh, Tom? Well, we'll just see about that. Powell, on the other hand, didn't need Odom to discipline Middleton, because Middleton was never going to coach another game at Smyrna anyway. The suspension for Middleton only means he can't coach anywhere else in the county for a year. He was never going to be back at Smyrna anyway. How much will Barrett be supervised in the coming year? We'll see if Tom Nolan is willing to lose his job over his girls' basketball coach.

I would hate to be an admistrator who has to tell his parents and players that we are going to have change with a new coach and then change again. Silly!
