SS,

All he said was you can't call him a terrible coach when he wins games. Sure OR might have underachieved when he was there, but that doesn't mean he is a bad coach. You also have to remember OR's region was loaded back then. Farragut, Ooltewah, and William Blount all had some teams that were state championship caliber squads. And Mcminn had some really good teams too. It's hard to dominate when you are playing teams of that caliber every week. I guarantee you Stanton would probably have been just as successful as the last two OR coaches if he was still there. OR's competition was alot better when Stanton was there.

Oak Ridge was good back then YES, the other schools being state title worthy NO WAY. Like ST said, those Riverdale teams were good and the only teamy to beat Cleveland before their run in the 90's. The rest though;

Farragut maybe had a 50% shot only because they didn't have Riverdale until the semis. Overall Farragut was too soft to play with the elite teams in 5A... The rest you mentioned like Ooltewah,WB, McMinn County were garbage. They wouldn't have even faired well in 4 that year

I was on that Maryville team as a Sophomore, everyone I know from Cleveland doesn't seem to remember you.

Well obviously you don't know many ppl from Cleveland, nor do u even know me . And yes I was on the field, football paid for my education after high school.

I know most of the best players on those teams personally... What was your jersey number or I'm calling BS?

Call it whatever u want. No need in me explaining nothing to you. Doesn't matter whom u know. That was 20 years. Are you mad that we won or something? Why would anyone lie about being on a team.

No, just me and the folks I know who were on those teams have a theory about you... Somebody who was actually on those teams would not be afraid of at least giving their number. I'm not interested in outing you by name, but I am calling fraud if you can't back it up with a number.

Garbage????? Are you insane?? As I recall Ooltewah barely lost to the eventual state champion, Smyrna, in the semis and WB barely lost to Ooltewah that year on a controversial call at the end of the game. And in '07 WB killed half the teams they played and barely lost to a Maryville team that was riding a 49 game win streak and went on to win the 4A championship. If those teams weren't state championship caliber teams I don't know who is. Edited by Governors91

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
