Tough Tennessee High School teams of the Past

Here's one worth a mention: 2011 Gallatin Green Wave, coached By Robert Lassiter. His last year before he retired. It was also Coach Don Porter's last year as a coach for the Wave. Great coach who had been there for a few decades. First three games were won with the majority of their best players out, and JV players stepping in. Good talented team that probably should've gone all the way, had a couple players kept their head screwed on straight. Good year nonetheless.

2011 Gallatin Green Wave: 10-2

Wilson Central W 20-14

Springfield W 36-20

Lebanon W 41-0

Oakland W 31-29 (last second game winner fg)

Station Camp W 30-7 (where you at BisonTruth)

Brentwood W 31-24

Mount Juliet L 52-20 (arguably MJ's best team they've ever fielded. HUGE crowd that night as well ):

Hendersonville W 35-10

Portland W 41-7

Beech W 23-21 (refs kept that game closer than should've been)

Glencliff W 35-0

Hendersonville L 28-7

That marked the third year in a row that they lost to a team in the playoffs that they beat in regular season.

You have to be darn good to waste Knox West and Cleveland like that! I wonder if the Halls program will ever come back to the level they were not long ago?

Halls went 14-1 in 1996 and lost by 4 points in the State Title game to a Pearl-Cohn team led by former UT great John Henderson. Halls had some great teams in those days. I'm just not sure that program has been in a quagmire for awhile now and from what I hear the development there has just come to a screeching halt. Not sure if the demographics will ever allow Halls to get back to the level they once had.
