Oh my Gosh! You think the Adults have to adjust to the kids! That's the problem with our society today. I coach the MS team at TCA as a non faculty coach. This is my 7th year and I assure you I don't ADJUST to the kids! I instill discipline and get after them! Does the U.S. Military adjust to their new recruits? No way. They teach, train and discipline like they always have. You adjust your strategy based on your personnel but you don't adjust your discipline. By the way, if you weren't including TCA in the list of good teams MC has played you are definitely missing it when it comes to basketball. We played Middleton to 8 at their place and we are still in football shape. Check back with us in February. It's guys like you that influence kids from Selmer Jr High to go to Aville. You might be part of the problem down there!

Well said and spot on. Players have to adjust if they don't time to hit the road no matter the potential talent.

Coach Brown went to the state tournament twice at MCHS and is the school's all-time leading winner in boys basketball. He coached just as hard as he does not. McNairy players are too soft and can't take criticism in all sports.

I guess Coach K does not yell at his players or Coach Cal does not yell at his players. Cal has half of his team just out of high school.

Brian is a winner and will find a way to win at MCHS. If we can keep the Selmer players from being recruited by AHS.

Yes it was A whipping and will be more to come I'm afraid. Obviously Brown applied for the Kossuth job because he wanted out. Must of been a snag in contract negotiat

I do not know where you work, but would you leave for a $10,000 raise?  Kossuth had offered the job only to have an influential booster kill the deal at the last minute. Mississippi is more screwed up than Tennessee in high school sports.

Great points MacNarry! Word is that Coach K yells at his players probably more than any coach in college! Doug Lambert was my Freshman coach in 1981 at MC and he yelled at us like no other.......results.......Freshman district championship and 18-2 record. We still talk about him today and laugh about it. He yelled so hard and loud he almost made us laugh! We loved it. I saw him at Coach Horton's visitation and we were laughing about how he used to chew us out. He threw all of our water bottles in the urinal at halftime against Bolivar he was so mad. The proper way to discipline the players is to encourage and love on them and then chew their tails out. I do it all the time with MIddle School boys. I don't know if Brian does that or not but he's a veteran and I suspect he does. Brian will find a way to win if the fans and parents will leave him alone. It appears the MC is playing decent ball right now with heir limited talent. Hope they finish strong!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
