Is number 11 too valuable on defense to give him a shot running the ball on offense? He is a very effective player blocking – running the ball – running the offense...and I do understand, that they could rotate him in and out. I think it's worth a try.

I have been wondering the same thing. Before the season started the talk was how good of a RB he would be, but we have seen nothing from him. I guess the coaches deem him too valuable as a Safety. That's my guess as well.

I just wonder if any of our offensive coaches had any kind of experience running this flexbone before this year? I seriously doubt they did, at least it sure looks like they didn't. We just aren't running it correctly (right now at least), because it looks all out of whack. It remains to be seen if the line can get any better. I did see some improvement, which is good. With all of that said we are still 2-0 somehow. God knows how, but we are.

it seems as if the Coaches are not on the same page or something

I don't know what it is, but frankly it just doesn't look good. We are still talented enough to beat pretty good teams even with minimal offensive output, which is pretty incredible in my opinion. Just imagine if we did have even a pretty good offense.

I'm not saying that the offense looks good but according to the stats in the paper both teams had right at 300 yards of offense. They had two turnovers and we had none. Like you said...we are 2-0 and we had 300 yards offense against a very good 6A team. imagine what we will be like when the offense starts clicking. I prefer to be a "glass half full" kind of fan rather than bash our own team and coaches....BUT....I'll be glad when the offense looks like it's supposed to!  LOL

True, but I'm speaking mainly about our run game, which was the biggest focus of the offseason. Take away Tees 145 yards receiving and Dunbar's 2 long runs near the end of the game and you are left with probably not much offensive output whatsoever. I'll take 2-0 though as ugly as it has been on the offensive side. Plus, I'm not bashing. I'm pretty sure all of our fans who know much of anything about football would be in agreement with me on what I'm saying. We just can't continue to win these close games against quality opposition with the opponent camping out in our backfield practically every down. The OL are where games are won and lost. That's one of if not the primary reasons Maryville has dominated High School football in this state for the past 15+ years. They consistently have a very strong OL. We haven't had a real good OL in a number of years. Not sure if it's coaching, or the weight program, but frankly our guys look weak and have for awhile. DB was muscling up on them bigtime and throwing them around. I saw a lot of that Friday night. I think something needs to be done in our strength & conditioning program personally.

I agree with you partly and I know you're not a basher but one or two are. We rushed for as many yards as they did or very close and I don't care when it happened. The game was in doubt until the end. BUT...the offense needs to improve.

    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
    • I'm from Cloudland and we've never played a sectional game.  We need to win tomorrow night to avoid that bus ride.  Us and north greene can play with you guys so I'm expecting good games whoever the matchup is.
