If we were 1-7 at this point , the boo birds would be out in force . Things will have to get better and i believe they will . Our district is weak with the exception of Cookeville and Cumberland Co . If you beat the press against Cumberland , you have a good chance .  Cookeville size will hurt us at times .

summit i was referring to your comments to 85. you acted like we ar loaded wit talent.

My personal opinion is he might need to go ahead and bite the bullet, piss off a couple of the parents, and make a line up change or two. I feel like he has a couple of girls on that bench that maybe better than what he is starting right now. I understand he's the new guy on the block and don't want to ruffle any feathers. Lets face facts, we all know and can see he has a weak spot that needs attention. We may not be loaded with talent, but I think we may have better talent on the bench that need to be considered.

Now I think you are getting to know what the score is. If there is talent/desire/ heart/coachability on the freshman team or bench, now is the time to elevate them.  A and AA coaches do it all the time.

Ok fellas - you're about 36 hours away from getting a feel for what D6 looks like early in season and close to Christmas break, which is time for adjustments to be made, prior to week to week match ups in 2016.  How's it looking?  Seems there are a ton of White Co personnel here - any other people that have keen insights to other programs?  I tend to look at the "meat" of D6 which to me is right in the middle.  I wouldn't use the word weak down towards 5/6 but "in transition" or of course, "rebuilding"....I like the like how D6 looks to be battle ready with a division between what I see is 1/2 then 3/4 then 5/6.....barring boy issues, class issues, crazy parent pressures, confidence, stress, home vs away, almost anything can and probably will happen.....

Going patriotic tomorrow - I'll take both RED/WHITE/BLUE teams for wins - Cookeville tougher than most think - Warren had 20+ points from bench last game - I'm going with youth in Stone - bright eyed and going to get better.....

I'll go just the opposite and say Cookeville and Warren lose. White County wins in a close one.

I do like the patriotic theme for tomorrows games. And I do like to pull for the underdog, so  I am also taking Cookeville over Cumberland in a shocker. I think Cookeville breaks the press and makes Crossville play slow ball. This in turn will allow Odem to out coach the Cumberland coach and gives Cookeville the 5 point win.

Next the White co. / Warren co. game will not be as patriotic. White co. new coach starts to smell the roses, pulls a couple of starters early, sees the chemistry is better this way and we take out Warren by 20. At least 20. Last we have Rhea against Stone. This is where Rhea decides football is their game. Stone wins big! My bonus pick for the week is Jackson co. over Picket at Picket. Watched the Picket girls Monday. 20 something turnovers against us. They do that against Jackson co. It'll be a blowout!

Cumberland wont lose a district game. Cookeville 0-5 against Cumberland last 2 years & have been out scored Last 5 games 347-256. That's an average loss of 18 points per game. This game will be all about guard play. Cumberland guards are better & they beat Cookeville easy 70-50. White wins at home by 8-10. Warren not gonna shoot ball well at White (most teams don't). White more physical than Warren & White point guard a little to good. White is due for a great shooting night. I'm moving White ahead of Warren to 4th best in district. Stone probably has the advantage over Rhea being at home. Stone has more talent across the board, but they are aweful young. Best player in this game plays for Rhea. I still think Stone ends up 3rd in District, so they will need to win this one. Stone wins by 12-15.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
