etcoach
The Governors pulled off a very exciting 78-76 victory in TRIPLE OVERTIME over Hardin Valley on the road on Thursday night to improve to 3-2 on the season in District 4AAA. It was an incredible game with a lot of momentum swings and a game that either team could have easily won. The return of Freshman Jordan Tarver after missing the last 7 games was quite noticeable as he had 10 points, 5 boards, and 4 steals. Junior Isaiah Hannah led the Govs with 21 points as he netted 6 triples in the contest while the team hit 12 three balls. The Governors are now 8-11 on the season which may not sound very good, but, in comparison to last year's 6 win season, and considering the team only dresses one senior who has only played 57 minutes all year, it is very encouraging. The Govs now have 4 quality wins over Cookeville, Alcoa, Knox West, and Hardin Valley as well as two wins over Kings Academy along with single wins over Lenoir City and Oneida. Last year WB did not win a AAA game. This year they have 4. Most of the games have been very entertaining as well with the exception of Blackman, Fulton, and Anderson County where they got blown out. Their 11 losses have been to Blackman, Fulton, Bradley Central, South Doyle, Heritage, Farragut, Powell, Sevier County, Oakdale, Anderson County, and Cookeville. Next week the Governors host Bearden on Tuesday and play at Maryville on Friday. Edited January 8, 2016 by etcoach

etcoach
On Tuesday night, the Bearden Bulldogs were able to stave off a furious comeback to defeat William Blount by a final score of 92-80. The Bulldogs improved to 5-1 (tied atop the District with Maryville) while the Govs fell to 3-3 in District 4AAA (tied for 4th with Heritage and Hardin Valley). The high scoring affair was close until Bearden finished the half and started the 2nd half on a 12-0 run to gain a 14 point lead. Late in the 3rd WB got the lead down to 8, but, with 4:11 remaining in the contest, Bearden pushed it to 15 points at 76-61. WB then made a furious run at the Dogs and cut it to 4 at 82-78 with 1:45 remaining, but a floater by the ever-talented Fair made it 84-78. The Govs then missed a three pointer and then had to start fouling and Bearden made their free throws down the stretch to secure the victory. For Bearden, Smith and Fair both notched 25 points with Smith dominating the first half by scoring 21 and Fair dominating the second half by scoring 22. The Governors were led by Josh Young who had 18 (4-5 from 3) and Isaiah Hannah who had 16. William Blount travels to top seeded Maryville Friday night. Since the paper could only cover Maryville Christian and Alcoa last night, I thought I would write my own article to be read by at least 3 people. rebelwoman87
I'm looking forward to the game tonight. I hope there's a packed house. Great atmosphere last night against Alcoa. I think I'll even get there for the JV game. Go Rebels
