No team wins big games without a truly special player. Liberty-Newble. Trenton-Malone. Dresden-Wynn. Huntington-Pearson. And when he went down they struggled. People who call TCA a one man show know zero about sports. They're probably adequate t-ball coaches at best.

I'm going to say this and move on because I know the TCA people are ready to move on.

Liberty will be 9-1 possibly 8-2 without Newble. I know that sounds crazy, but Liberty has the best defense and arguably the most underrated running back in West Tennessee in Chris Johnson. I don't know how good Liberty backup quarterback is, but they had enough this year.

Trenton and Kendrick Malone. If I'm not mistaking, Coach Jacobs started the backup QB for 2 games and moved Malone on defense. I think he won both games, if not, they lost to Dresden while he was the starter. He had to be pretty good in order for Coach Jacobs to made the switch. I don't know how much of a impact it would make if Malone didn't start on defense. I will say this, Peabody would not beat Union City if Malone didn't start, and we all know that.

Dresden and Dresser Winn. I don't know anything about Dresden football other than Dresser Winn is really good at football and amazing at baseball (he plays for the Dulins Dodgers). Also the Lions have a good running back or receiver, I can't think of that guys name. I apologize.

Huntingdon has 3 guys that can run for 1,500+ yards. Saying that Huntingdon would be no where without Pearson is nonsense. They have an amazing running game that is hard for defenses to figure out and stop.

Now on Trinity, I must remind you that TCA is 0-4 without Goldsmith as the starting QB. TCA is 8-1, 7-1 something like that with him as the starting QB. Losing him hurts. TCA would be a .500 team in that region without him and possibly a first round playoff berth and out. Nothing to be excited about those Lions next year. It's rebuilding time. Time to bring in the 8th graders and freshmen and do this thing all over again and let them play. Only builds confidence and experience!

I hope you change your username to MizzouTigers instead, it looks better. Whose your high school team?? Do you mind asking me? Welcome to Coach T!!!

Rebuild? Yes, TCA is losing almost all of their playmakers and that will be tough to replace BUT their entire offensive line is back. They will have 6 starters back in Defense. Not a total rebuild. 2017 will be the next really good year. They could surprise some folks next year and finish 6-4. 4-6 or 5-5 is more reasonable with a possible playoff berth. Our entire region will be down so they will still have a shot at doing well. We have a great freshmen and soph class. The 5 Seniors will be greatly missed. They accounted for about 85% of offense with Goldsmith being about 55%. We have a great coach and I feel he will keep the program at a high level. Challenge is getting bodies on the field. We need 40 players not 32.

If TCA needs to be a team that can be a "threat", they have got to improve their defense. It is becoming an Achilles heel.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
