Several people are busting the chops of TCA claiming that we are a one man team on this message board.  What I fail to understand is why they are not busting chops on Trezevent?  Trezevent's #5 has 65.7% of the rushing offense for the Bears.  That number is very close to the numbers posted by TCA's #7.  When you look at rushing and receiving, the Bears #5 is at 52.8% and TCA's #7 is at 55.8%.  Those numbers are very close and comparable, yet nobody seems to think Trezevent is a one man band.

Why is this?  Could it be bias against a private school and it's star athlete?  Me thinks that may have something to do with it.

And me thinks it's hard to really take anything you say seriously.  I've read these boards long enough to remember when you were the biggest JC(S) homer in Madison County.  Then your station switched to TCA and all of the sudden you bleed purple.  What happens when they switch again?

. You should understand. You know one kid goes to USJ it is hooray Bruins. Another kid goes to TCA then it's go Lions. The man is supporting his team now. If it changes I hope he supports his new team.

It's too bad that you don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. Never the less, I will clue you in.  I had at one time worked for 1390am radio when they had a nightly call in show.  They also did a high school football game of the week at that time.  My function on game nights was to report from another site.  I left 1390 and eventually landed a gig with another local station doing a saturday morning gig.  About 2004, 1390am started to exclusively broadcast JCS games.  The play by play position came open in 2006 and I worked that gig for three years including the state championship year of 2006.  While doing football games on 1390, I picked up side work with AFR radio working TCA basketball broadcasts. I made some really good friends there.  I left 1390 after the 2008 football season.  I started working TCA football games in 2009 as a stat person and sideline reporter on the local AFR station.  During the 2010 football playoffs AFR shut down local operations and my play by play of the Trenton at TCA playoff game was that stations last local broadcast.  After one week of no TCA on the radio, they were picked up by Grace Broadcasting on 97.7.  My current broadcast partner and I have been broadcasting  TCA sports for that broadcast group since December of 2010 and beginning with the TCA at Mckenzie state semi finals. Of course, we are now broadcasting TCA games on another of the Grace Broadcasting stations 105.3. For what it's worth when 93.1 first started carrying JCS games a couple of years ago, station management offered me the chance to return to JCS and do the play by play for them again.  I turned that opportunity down to stay with TCA and do color commentary with my friend and broadcast partner Dave McCulley.

I don't have to answer to you but TCA has been very good to me over the years and they, along with many others, stepped up and helped me after I suffered two heart attacks last December the morning after doing PBP the night before in Adamsville.  TCA as a school, it's fans, and other school supporters  have been very good to me and I am in turn very loyal to them.

Reitz.... Is there anyway radio broadcast can improve their broadcasting because the technology has improved? I've always listen to 101.5 when they cover USJ football and basketball, they're good, and their announcing is crisp, kind of more like HD in a way. I listen to other football and basketball games and it is awful. Statc and pretty bad as it gets. I'm not saying TCA broadcasting is bad, I rarely listen to it. But other radio broadcastings compared to 101.5 are awful. Is there anyway you guys (all the radio broadcasters) can improve the broadcasting? I'd rather check my Twitter every 10 minutes just to see who is winning.

The new technology can be most unreliable especially when broadcasting via the internet.  I have used many of the newer tools only to have them fail in the middle of a broadcast.  I prefer a phone line broadcast.  I will use a cell when another school does not provide a courtesy line.  As far as how another stations broadcast sounds, I am not going to get reeled into that argument.  The very best of the new technology costs serious dollars to purchase the equipment and special lines have to be installed on site.  It's all rather expensive and it would have to be paid for with increased rates.  These days, sponsorship is getting harder and harder to find.  You have to make it affordable or there will be no broadcast at all.

"Too bad you don't have a clue". Then a novel basically stating what I said?

If you and a couple others weren't so condescending at times I don't think you would get near the feedback that you do. As they say though, you can be a somebody on a message board if all else fails.

Listen, I'm glad you've found a home surrounded by good people that are good to you. Maybe chill on some of the smart comments a little and your other life on here won't draw so much heat.

I love TCA and miss the whole high school sports thing bad, but you guys jump on anybody that doesn't agree with your opinion, which is what a message board is by the way

Good luck to you guys, I'm gonna make a few basketball games because I agree that this years TCA team could be special and I love the game of HS Bball

Remember, no harm intended but you guys take this way too seriously imo

A key element of your statement was not based on FACTS.  Thus, while I am a homer (that is what I am paid to be and proud of it) you are wrong.  I don't mind drawing some heat either.  Without some HEAT, the world would be a rather boring place.  I will always come at you with the facts as I see them.  Like my opinion or not, I am not going any where any time soon.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
