What you mean about a popularity contest?? Are these results not the absolute truth??

An individual "mvp" type award on a team sport just doesn't seem to mean anything really so I carith not.

In wrestling to be "all state" you finish in the top 5 wrestlers in your weight class at a state tournament. There is nobody saying " I should be all state too". You earn that. It's not voted on.

Actually it is the top 6, Slice.  Get a grip, you're slacking!

I keep hearing all this talk about individual awards. The Kirkendoll kid from Marion is a great linebacker and he didn't make the Best of Preps at all. There is probably not a more deserving kid and he didn't make it so no one in here should be complaining about who did or didn't make it.

You are correct.  There seems to be some inconsistency in the process.  I like Slice's take on it.

I agree.

That's why local kids going to utc makes me happy. It's easier to keep up when they stay home. And at the end of the day it's all about me.

Must be nice to have a local school want local players.....ETSU here is playing the same game they played when the program went belly up!

They are dropping $30 million on a new stadium and proclaiming how locals can come watch the local recruited HS players play in college right here....They come and see the local HS coaches, explain how much they want our players, invite these players to all the home games and make em feel they're wanted....They then crawfish and want our local HS players to "walk on" so out of state players can be given the scholarships.

ETSU will struggle, once again, to get local support because of the way they conduct business :thumb:

    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
